Hey guys, I'm way out of my element on this one and was hoping someone could help me. I'm under the impression that my A/C clutch/pulley is going out, it's making a horrendous noise when engaged (the video doesn't really do it justice). It will occasionally make a very faint noise even without the compressor engaged, but the video won't reflect that. The thing I'm puzzled by is that this noise goes away when under load. Only makes it when idling. Are there ways to replace the clutch so I don't have to replace the entire compressor?

On the flip side, what is the part number/manufacturer for the OEM compressor? If I have to replace it, I have zero interest in reman/aftermarket and only want OEM.

I have a video of what is going on in terms of noise. I'm not a big fan of videos to show someone the noise a vehicle is making as I usually can't determine anything from them, but I figured what the hell.

As always, any help is appreciated and thank you!

Edit: The more I look, I realize there are OEM clutch assemblies? Do dealerships ever just replace the clutch?

That sounds different then when mine failed. Mine made a squealing noise and very loud. I was able to buy a new clutch for it and it took about 10 min or less to fix. I got mine off Amazon, I don’t believe the clutch was available by itself from the dealer. There are quite a few posts about it on this site, that’s how I got the information to fix mine.

Yeah I found all those threads and whilst they were some help it sounds like everyone else's issue is different to mine. Not really sure what to do at this point. I inspected the front of my clutch to see what the condition of the rubber is, and visually it looks perfectly fine. I attempted to take off to inspect anyway, but that 8mm is being a real mother to get off…

I think I’m just going to have to take it to the dealer or somewhere else to get inspected and see what they say.

kinda bummed about this as my truck only has 104k miles on it, I expected something like this to not happen for a little while longer but oh well.

In depth thread here . https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/a-c-light-blinking.107982/page-2

If it was my truck , I would pop the serpentine belt off and spin the clutch by hand feeling for tight spots as you go .
Those compressors are basicly a tiny 6 cylinder engine . A lot of moving parts . I beleive my compressor also failed at the same mileage as yours .
    Not uncommon .

There is a modification that prevents that compressor from running during defrost . The thread above has a lot of info . Check it out

I already had the belt off multiple times and checked everything, compressor pulley and clutch spins fine and smooth.

I’m still getting cold A/C in the cab and haven’t once gotten a blinking light. Kind of stumped.

I’ll review the thread posted and look into it.
