With the lunar landing in the future, I doubt SpX is going to ignore internal warnings.

Not go public with them? Yes.

    Ignore them? No.

It’s the reason, in my head up my ass opinion, why they didn’t try it with earlier versions of the booster and ship.

Edit: I’m sure SpX doesn’t want to be the first commercial space company to kill a crew.

Agreed, my post was more about supporting the FAA and their mission which is almost necessarily unpopular. They got too chummy with Boeing and several hundred people paid with their lives. Being nice and being sticklers doesn’t go hand in hand and it’s also going to cause delays that are also unpopular. I don’t expect them to prevent every mishap but if they or their presence can prevent some without shutting down the industry that's as good as you can hope for. Tragedies will happen, we need to accept that but we can at least promote the ethics that limit them.

Turning the norm on it’s head.
In other news, Terran Space Academy does some good videos that help me fill in the blanks of how things get developed and how NASA can be most effectively be used to promote developing technologies. So cool to see Nikola Tesla still having a direct influence on ground breaking advancements with a “no moving parts” idea.

    3’ vs 3”.
    Size matters.

edit- that #2 could fit inside the OLM and isn’t that an appropriate euphemism.

I wonder why the plan is to overshoot the islands? I would think it safer to undershoot but maybe it’s more about the shipping lanes.

    :notsure:

Add to that, I’ve read they weren’t going to do the flip and landing burn for the Starship. Doesn’t make sense to me to give up that opportunity?!?!

They may be anticipating a much earlier burn with a few unscheduled flips thrown in for good measure. Or it may be they would rather run the tanks dry to eliminate one possible bad ending. They’d still get to play with flap control. I’m not sure whether a bellyflop or sudden loss of autogenous pressurization due to rapid cooling from seawater would do more damage to the ship but the engines themselves might leave more to examine in the first case if they’re still cold when it hits.
