I think the fad of overlanding is on it's way out. The trend will probably live on as people who overland will still be around.

The trailhunter pkg will probably be a cool truck, seems kind of late to bring it to market with the looming recession around the bend. I guess it's only the Tundra from the SEMA show and some CGI, it's not like Toyta is fully invested.

The Trailhunter is going to be across the line of trucks and BOF SUV's. Tacoma, Tundra, 4 runner, Sequoia I would say they are kinda invested. When they announced it at SEMA they used plural language to talk about the package. I would bet it will be just like the PRO line of vehicle offerings, It may even drift down to the Rav 4 and Highlander, Subaru is having some success with the wilderness package in those classes of vehicles.

Seems like the fad is fading, or it might just be my perception from seeing a bunch come for sale by people who dipped their toe into and decided the outdoors isn’t for them. Little surprised by how much had little to no use. The mall crawler camping theme them hit them strong I guess. Then went “whoa! Climbing up a ladder to a tent kinda sucks!”

@jaxyaks is probably right, they’ll do it across several lines like Subaru. They do have the Woodland Edition Sienna, Highlander and RAV4, (which is kinda ho-hum) could see them do away with that and make them Trail Hunters. Maybe call those “Trail Head” Hunters… :p

Overlanding isn't as popular as before but there's still a great market for it and will increase during the summer and when more EV chargers are installed along popular routes like the Trans America Trail now has.

At least the Rivian has decent payload @1760lbs. Just needs the supposed 500 mile range of the Ram Rev.

Lol! Oh yeah, price difference of a petrol truck buys an awful lot of fuel.

Overlanding peaked with covid, now the money is drying up especially for the techbro crowd it doesn't seem so feasible to buy a $60K truck and then dump $200K in upgrades.

A good compromise would be a factory option that you can finance. I like the rear bumper though.

It would still be cheaper to buy used and outfit only what you need. New can do the same but would take some deep calculating for comparison.

Trailhunter showed a projector style head light. This one shows a reflector type.

Toyota really needs to stop teasing and just release the fucking pictures before I trade my Taco in on a god damn Santa Cruz.

Any info on where this was taken? Looks photoshopped and It's missing some parts. Weird if it was even in an auto show. I'm calling BS until Toyota releases their images.
