If you think fixing a Ram, Chevy or Ford diesel is expensive, I can only imagine a Toyota Diesel repair costs!!!.....

Boxed frame is here. One out of three ain't bad!

Now get ready for accelerated rusting with the boxed frame :stirthepot:

It's also a bit harder to mount sliders to a boxed frame. Ask the 4Runner folks.

Does a boxed frame offer any benefit vs the current frame?

All 3 supercharged w/ other performance mods.
A mortgage sure, which I am in favor of in general since a home typically appreciates.

College isn't a necessity to succeed in life & can be paid in cash if you do it right. We don't encourage young people to learn trades the same way we encourage them to go to college & as a result we have a dearth of quality plumbers, HVACs, carpenters, roofers, etc - the good ones are making it hand over fist & turn down work everywhere I go. The point is if you can't afford college you don't need a degree to be successful.

Literally no one needs to buy a $50k truck to live life. But yes someone can drive used, pay cash for that & save up for something nicer.

I have had literally no debt since paying my house off in 2016. I am 46. My parents are teachers. No trust fund. In the middle of paying cash for graduate school over time.

Every situation is different so no one's individually targeted with this but broadly speaking we don't have $ problems in America, we have spending problems, micro & macro.

One out of two taint bad, though could imagine a diesel hybrid in it. Fuel efficient and lotsa low end torque. Turbo Gasser will be a much improvement over the current offerings, but diesel man, diesel! Oh well that dream is dead with EVs in the horizon.

Guessing with trail hunter package, the new frames will have provisions for sliders already, either stamped holes or nutserts.

Trust fund ftw. I now trust myself to fund everything in cash other than the house after being stupid for years.

To be honest I really don't make a great wage I do up house plans at a building supply store maybe 50k CDN. The only thing that saves me is I build a house on the side every year and my work floats me the material till it sells. If it wasn't for that I would be going backwards.

Boxed frame is usually stiffer, which allows a better-controlled ride both on pavement and on dirt/gravel - a flexible frame acts as a spring, but with no damper. That's why the Toyota SUVs (4Runner/Land Cruiser) use boxed frames.

C-channel frame is usually lighter and easier to mod/upfit, so the big haul trucks (including Hino) all have C-channel frames. Ease of upfit is also a big reason we have a frame at all and haven't gone to unibody like the Pathfinder and Grand Cherokee.
Just because the spy shots show sliders doesn't mean they're frame-mounted. The current 4Runner TRD Pro accessory sliders are body mounted. The JL Rubicon sliders are body-mounted. The ZR2 sliders are body mounted...

Ah, very cool. I guess I'm on board too now for a box frame. But could lead to more rust issues later in its life I'm guessing. Hopefully by now they've outfitted to allow for proper drainage? And maybe a way to clean debris out of it a bit better?

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
Trust me they learned their lesson. And again there’s always going to be some regions that are harsher than others. Toyota can’t do shit about that.

My '83 Jeep CJ7 had a boxed frame. They would rust from the inside out. Some people would spray oil up into the drain holes as an anti-rust. Even the later TJ's with galvanized frames had rust problems. I'd hope that Toyota has figured out the issue a little better in 2023.

Debt isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If you can keep your own money to invest and use other people’s money to buy things then you will typically come out on top in the end.

Already sold on the design from the patent images. Just waiting on the specs. Will be pre ordering a Pro once my dealership will allow me to.

They didn’t learn any lessons. The frames are still rusting out. A boxed frame made from the same thin shitty steel and shitty paint is going to rust even faster.
