Seems like these shields only cover the front cats. What about the 2 back cats? Are those not stolen as often, maybe because they are worth less?

I’m not familiar with the 4banger, but these cover the secondary, as the primary are up closer to the engine. The mufflers are much further back and I only pray they’re not stealing those…

We now have a powder coated steel version in 3/16 steel.

They all have a notch cut in the wings now.

There are a few more posts I need to follow up on! Will do in the morning.

The 4 cylinder is the the only truck not covered by the primary cat shield. We now have an add on for the 4 cylinder trucks.

I bought the Cali Raised cat shields for the 23. They fit great, no issues.

we have had a few reports of thieves trying to cut our shields off… and failing.

none of them doing extra damange.

it’s a big reason I haven’t developed a cheaper thinner shield. If the thief does get a wild hair up their butt and try to cut the shield off they are going to give up on ours.

There are a few photos of Prius owners with cat shields getting their cat shield cut off… it was enough for me to go big or go home.

If someone wants your cats, they will get it. If they're willing to cut through the plate, they're pretty determined and will find a way. Aluminum or steel it won't matter when the junkie with a sawzall has made it his life mission to get your cat. Put something up for peace of mind but don't lose sleep. I did talons Garage first which was good because it doubled as a skid plate, then Cali Raised because I wanted to access the transmission for service. Then I traded it so nothing matters anyway.

Why trade shields then? If I wanted access to transmission with the Talon’s Garage, I’d just put the access holes… or provide that information, so he could make the cutouts necessary.
Please, for the love of god….don’t add holes while it’s on the vehicle.

He replaced a Talon with a Cali-Raised, Just so he could have access to transmission drain and overfill plugs.
    He eventually traded the Tacoma.

I have a question for those familiar. I installed the Talon cat shield today, but just realized I forgot to apply the anti-seize to the security bolts. How screwed am I?

I'm thinking about dropping them out one at a time and just replacing them with the standard hex bolt w/anti-seize. Hoping I don't run into any issues trying to take them out.

Also, the bolt swap is unrelated to the anti-seize. I just figure if I'm taking them out, I'd switch them to a standard hex bolt because the Bryce Penta-plus are kind of a hassle. Extra bits are $25/each and that seems a bit overkill for this.

Antiseize is always a good idea. I had the security bolts too then when I went to remove them once, one of the points of the star broke off on the bolt head. Had to grind off two sides of the head to fit vise grips, PITA. Then used regular Allen head bolts and filled them with copper based silicone gasket stuff. Easy to pry out with a pick but enough to annoy the junky trying to get a quick score. Bet they'll move on to the next vehicle.

Mine don’t have antiseize, but what I did was use one of each on each of the locations. It’s a hassle to have to remove different bolts. I was also able to find security bolts in stainless at the bolt house, so it’s likely possible on Amazoon or FleBay as well. They probably won’t be pentalobe, but the security pin will be in the pattern. Making it a little complicated is a deterrent.
