Something is off. You either have the wrong adapter, or an incorrect tcase/tcase housing you are trying to install.
Crawlbox housing should be mounted to that adapter and it has a flat bottom like so.
    upload_2023-3-14_8-34-42.jpg
Yours has a slope with a protruding notch at the bottom.

Not sure about the flat notch honestly. Pulled it out of a turbo pickup (87?). It's worked fine for the two other trucks I've had it in.
There is one other hole on the left side I had to fill with JB because half of it was exposed when fitted to the trans.

Looks like you got a adapter plate for a 2nd gen Tacoma. You have a 1st gen Tacoma right?

That is correct. I'll be giving Marlin a call when they open up today and talk to someone. I'd like to see a 2nd gen tacoma plate vs the one I have, pictures from the vendors website aren't too informative

Here's a MC31 for a 1st gen. Your adapter is different but it might be because it's inchworm. It is wider than normal.

Just got off the phone with Marlin. Before I could even finish explaining the problem, he told me they sent out the wrong plate. It's a universal mounting for the 3.4/4.0 applications. The difference being they mill out the countershaft larger for the 4.0s. Returning this plate and having a new one shipped out.

Really bummed about this, I was suppose to be leaving for Moab on Thursday. Time to prep the wife's 4runner I guess.

New Marlin plate arrived. Props to them, shipped to CO in under 24hours from placing the call.
For future reference, here's a side by side.
3.4 on left. 4.0 on right.
    26mm vs 43mm countershaft hole.
Few extra bolt holes on the 4.0 20230315_155556.jpg

Must be the inchworm designed. Their mc31 don't have the countershaft hole. Interesting

They don't offer the mc31. Only the inchworm product. I would've bought the marlin if I could

Had to look it up (thought it did), my og inchworm does has the hole, that uses the extension housing cavity for additional fluid capacity.

Finally got rid of my bolt for a shifter and closed off the shift lever holes to the transmission tunnel.
    Also added short throw shifters.

Had an interesting problem, drained my crawl box and filled it and when I was going to reinstall the fill plug, it literally stripped the threads out. It never got tight. I was ready to flip the truck over lol. Long story short the plug got jb welded in place and I’ll be filling from the top.

Yeah luckily the drain plug has more threads. The fill is like 3/16” thick. Had like 4 threads

TG suck big time. I have nothing but bad luck with their production line since 2006. The sad thing is, they don't care and we don't have many offroad option out there. TG litterily bought out majority of the industry and it wouldn't surprise me if they soon become the only vendor.

I’ve said it here before but I’ve got zero issues with my TG doubler and I’ve had no problem with any other part I’ve ever gotten from TG either. The trunnion bearing eliminators are badass, as are the 1 piece knuckle seals with their rings. I’ve considered going to their studless hubs too…they’ve innovated significantly more in the Toyota space than any other vendor sure has lately until NWF arrived.
