    Hey guys, been a while.

So, the outer ring on my harmonic balancer has quite a bit of wiggle to it. It's been causing a weird noise on startup, along with an annoying belt chirp and I'm getting ready to replace it.

Thing is, I've never replaced a harmonic balancer before, are there any pitfalls I should concern myself with here? Any additional parts I may need to replace alongside the balancer?

I'd really appreciate any advice or wisdom you guys have.

It's not a tough process, you'll want to buy a replacement crank bolt from toyota since it is one time use. You'll also probably have the most luck with a steering wheel puller or a gear puller with some long M8x1.25 bolts threaded into the holes in the balancer and into your puller. Usually don't come off too hard.

    Thanks so much for replying!

Are you referring to part no 13471C?

I just want to make sure I have everything I need before I start. Thanks again!

Breakin that bolt can be a pain in the ass....
I had to use the bump start method.....which turned out fairly easy....

Alright so, super late update. Was pretty easy. The hardest part was removing that crankshaft seal, breaking the crankshaft bolt loose was definitely a bit nerve racking doing the started bump method. All in all, a fun and very successful operation.

Also my harmonic balancer was indeed in two seperate pieces, the outer ring had completely seperated from the rest of the pulley.

Our trucks are reaching the age where the rubber damper starts to crack and separate. We'll see more of these replacements in the coming years.
