So Dex went to the vet today to look at his erratic eating behaviors and bouts of lethargy (I swear some mornings he just won't want to move until midday, then he's crazy energy)

results show elevated levels of something that indicate mild pancreatitis. He had some bouts of hacking/trying to vomit last weekend which I just figured was something he ate but that's a symptom of pancreatitis apparently.

anyway he should be fine, just needs a daily med for a week or two and strict diet of plain chicken and rice which I'm sure he will love

My bookmark list in Firefox for stuff to get is already long haha. Ideally stage 2 with IS20 turbo, so 301/310.
Carbon intake, new downpipe, intercooler upgrade, turbo inlet elbow. Always a rabbit hole. Also want to stay reliable-ish haha

yeah I'm glad we opted to take him in. As long as it's mild they recover just fine pretty quick. But if you let it go for too long it can become a lifelong battle they have to contend with.

It's preventative stuff that's diagnosed... isn't that their favorite usually. Saves them bigger bucks later

Yeah we sunk over 10k into Simba during those few weeks we had him and those 4 days of emergency visits/bills. Hence why we got insurance this time around lol. I don't think it would have covered Simba at all though anyway due to his age and us only having him for a short time. But that was a lesson for sure

My buddy has 14 dogs to the side of his house. Buys dog food by the pallet a couple times of year. Luckily they don't get hurt too often and most the time we can patch them up at home if needed.

yeah I expect to be at least partially reimbursed, but I don't remember the details of our plan. Will have to go back and look them up but I'm sure there will be some reimbursement

Cats are a good compromise if you're not allergic to them. As long as they're indoor cats you rarely have to do vet visits until they get to be old, and even then it's not as bad as dogs bills usually.

I think I've taken Harley to the vet twice in the 12 years I've had him and both times I basically paid $300 for them to tell me he's a chonk and needs a diet

Shit all you had to do was post a picture of him on reddit and they'd have told you he's fat and you're awful for making him that way

he's not as bad as he used to be, he gets a lot more exercise with Dex around now that's for sure. Our other cat Mai Thai on the other hand has plumped up big time since he basically just hides all day from Dex.

Yeah our cats were great until they got old. All indoor except for one...and sadly that one met a school bus.
