I plan to make sure he takes full advantage of tuition-free schooling when he's old enough.

Of course that's only if he goes to school in California.

 

Texas is the same, had a friend use his dads gi bill or something along those lines to get free college

 

Your state alone has a lot of benefits for veterans.

Although since you mentioned specific government benefits, I take it your dad was in the military for at least 6 years. I have the same benefits and have been going to school for free as well, not to mention getting paid on top of that.

As for the tuition free schooling for my son? California schools are stupid expensive and the reason why it would be free is because I meet the criteria;

California resident throughout active duty (as in i came from CA).

My son being a California resident.

Receiving an honorable discharge and having a disability rating of 70% or higher.

My son attending a California college/university.

 

I have had a dog since I was born and had personally trained ones since 12. Need a break. Its been almost 30 years. Wanna see what the single life is all about. lol
