Me neither, I don’t drink it all. Amazing what people get upset over. Well…used to drink always thought Bud Light was a chick beer piss water, crazy the knuckledraggers are just now figuring it out.

Kinda like Tacoma owners getting all machismo puffy chest over these chick trucks. Love mine and all, but let’s be honest… lol!

    Lol!

3rd Gen, no bottom torque, laughable payload, trans acts like it is having a mental breakdown with slightest change from “normal” conditions, hill *oh gawd*….headwind *oh shit!* towing at half of capacity *please don’t make me!* it is like my wife trying to make decisions when we are at a restaurant, fer cripes sake pick something! A gear, any gear and stay there!

Any time you ask it to anything remotely trucky, it wets itself. I spent $40K for this!? Exact same my buddy spent for his F350.

Hopefully (to stay on topic) the 4th Gen fixes these annoyances. Turbo 4 (while no diesel) should fix the lack of lowend [check], boxed frame [check]…fingers crossed the payload will be better than Hondas soccer mom minivan truck they call a Ridgeline. Damn shame that thing can haul more than the Taco.

It is, programmed for best mpgs. Which is kinda piss poor, my buddies 1500 Silverado gets better mpgs with loads more power. The Taco is mostly fine when it is unladen, any deviance from that it is annoying. Missing my manual trans that is for sure. Same gradual climb with rolling hills route to the trailhead towing my moto trailer in my old manual 1st Gen Tacoma that has less power, 5th gear cruise on, maybe two climbs I have to down shift. My new 3rd Gen…it doesn’t know what to do. Start out in drive, ECT on…gear hunting galore! Drop it into S-5, no better, S-4…slightly better, but still hunting. Kicking the cruise off and me manually clicking the gear changes, works “ok”. At that point why even have an auto? Even my wife commented on it, what the hell is it doing? I don’t know it seems confused. This is my first auto Toyota after owning manuals for 30 years, used to them being underpowered, but also have it engrained in me of what gears I want it in. Maybe it is me, maybe it is the truck…perhaps both.

For the chick truck comment, my 1st Gen has a payload of 1600 lbs, my 3rd is 1100…wtf Toyota? Means it less of a truck than my old one.

    Yikes!

What is irritating that Toyota could have fixed all this 28 years ago, they should have never diverted from the HiLux platform, that is when they started to target the bourgeoisie like @ErichVonCartmann said.

We could have had a torquey diesel with a decent payload of around 2000 lbs, while fetching good fuel economy. And that was nearly 30 years ago. Now Toyota is finally catching up to what the rest of the world already had. Quite lame on Toyota USA’s part. Should we be excited about the 4th Gen, or pissed that they took this long?

The 3rd Gen looks tough and chiseled but the specs say otherwise, while the HiLux looks rounded and soft, yet burly underneath.

That looks like a 6ft bed to me. Probably an DCLB or they made the Access Cab larger than previous gen.

The sad thing is that my 4banger 21 is less temperamental than the v6 2016 I had with tow package. I get better mpg numbers too.

The thing I like about the 4 cyl is that it’s under no illusions. It’s a light duty truck that can haul and tow light stuff and I never push it because it’s just a 4 pot.

OK changed my mind again LOL. I like the lines on the Outback more than the Forester, and the Outback looks better lifted. Outback might be the ticket for me now IF the Tacoma Gen4 is NOT to my liking.

Trucks have turned into luxury cars with beds. The target audience seems to be Escalade and Denali drivers who want to feel more manly. Have you seen the interior of the new EV Ram? It’s a Tungsten Edition which will be higher than a Limited. It looks like it should come with a chauffeur. It’s absurd.

I am with you 100%. Who the hell would use those Vehicles to Work with or to even do some real cross country touring with? Cross Country touring you will see your fair amount of gravel and dirt roads, as well as go over mountain passes during a Blizzard. These new Trucks, including that last picture of the Gen4 Tacoma, just look too Bently-esque for my liking. Trucks are meant to be used and abused and NOT catered to!

they have, at least majority of my SR interior if plastic, disappointed that it doesn’t have vinyl seats and rubber floor instead of carpet. House projects, riding dirt bikes, camping, etc…I am always covered in filth.

Originally wanted the 4, wife talked me out of it since I tend to load the shit out my truck and tow. Was going to get either a Ranger (much better lowend) or a V8 F150, but they were 6-8 months out when I needed to buy (old was on its last legs), Toyota had it to me in 5 weeks. Have been thinking about trading it in, wife say’s don’t even bother. Another 5 years we will be retiring, and I’ll move up to a 1 Ton and give her the Tacoma.
    lol!

they do! If they didn’t cost as much or more than a Taco, probably would have went that route. Though lift, larger tires and a CVT isn’t really the best combo.

Good Point, if I do get the Outback, I might just pass on the lift and just get the Method Wheels with the same size KO2's. My Outback won't be an "Offroad" Vehicle, just a Blizzard and "bumpy dirt road" Touring Vehicle. The K0's to me ride pretty close to street tires, but they are also the best in snow (for tires that are NOT a true snow tire). K0's also last forever! I have always gotten over 100K miles on every set of KO's. I am thinking the K02's would have the same or better performance than the K0's.
