I will say, I wear a size 13 in almost everything and a 48 with these Icons is slightly snug. It's not a big deal when riding since I'm not putting a lot of pressure on my feet but if I were to walk around in it I'd feel it for sure.

They list them in US sizes on revzilla, so I ordered 9s. Depending on brand I wear 8.5 to 10, and they don't do half sizes. Went with the 9 hoping it'd be right, but it is trying to fold my foot like an inverted taco. If the 10s are a little wider I'll be ok on length. Rather a little too long than too short.

Sorry I meant I got the 13's for the Icons. Too used to EU sizing for most motorcycle boots. I think 14's might have been a tad too long.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Been there, I am not sure if breaking them in using some water may help, as long as you can air them out.
I did this to a pair of Alpine Stars. I love the way they fit, but was a little uncomfortable in one of my feet. Specifically the Toe box. I doubled up my Soxs, hit mega water crossings and did a lot of foot work. Crouching helps. Anyways just a thought.

I get the smallest I can get my foot into comfortably. I have knocked my foot around with too large a boot. I don’t get them to walk in, I carry shoes for that.

Did another 100 miles on the Triumph Bonneville today, perfect riding weather this morning, low 70's. Lots of bikes out today. I saw a big gathering at the Harley dealership I went by. Another gathering at the dealership I bought my helmet from. I stopped in there looking for a throttle rocker but they didn't have any. So I chatted with a Christian riders club for a bit, got a blessing from the pastor. Nice experience. I rode all along the Saint Clair River, was beautiful. Saw a freighter coming down the river. Just an enjoyable ride. Rain tomorrow so no riding, I don't like riding in the rain.

Any sort of activity where you need good control/feeling in your feet needs a smaller than comfortable size IMO. I smash my feet into the smallest ski boots possible because I get the best control, even if my feet are killing me by the end of the day.

Even with snug boots I can ride all day since as I said previously I'm not putting a ton of pressure on my feet while riding.

Yep, if it feels like a ski, then it is a ski. My buddy loved when I sold my slightly used boots. His foot was slightly longer than mine, and appreciated the break in. Lol, my tech10s smelled like a swamp and I was like, bro you can have them. Lol

So I got pretty annoyed with the bent bar on the Navi always pointing to the right... so I took my biggest pry bar, some shop towels and went to town. I unbent it and now it feels weird to ride with straight handlebars lol.

I didn't manage to get on the motorcycle but my wife and I rode ~12 miles round trip for coffee in the morning, does that count? I even had my Beeline on the bicycle to navigate!

Arai RX-Q. I need to replace it, though. It's pretty old and last week I got a pretty serious rock chip in it.

I honestly have no idea how people survive just riding their bikes without a helmet. Pretty sure that rock would have knocked me out without it. Or worse.

This is timely, I've been looking at a new helmet. My daily is 3 and a half years old and showing it's age.

AGV X9 as my daily in white/black w/ custom reflective pin striping..ish
Bell Moto 3 as my summer lid, mostly
509 delta r3 I don't really use anymore, it's heavy and really loud but bright orange hi-vis and used to be my winter helmet. plus fidlock and drop down sun visor
And my original bell qualifier that I only use when I want to go Panda :anonymous:

Oh, and I have a couple no-name open face 3/4 helmets from my college scooter days that haven't been touched in years because I value my facial features.

A friend brought his 2018 R1200GS to me to change his oil.

    upload_2023-4-15_17-49-52.jpg

In typical BMW fashion, the oil fill plug has a special socket that my friend didn't have (BMW does include it when you buy the bike but the previous owner didn't give it to my friend):

    upload_2023-4-15_17-50-39.jpg

Thingiverse saved the day and I 3D printed a tool to remove the cap:

    upload_2023-4-15_17-51-7.jpg

But then again in typical BMW fashion, turns out you can't get rid of the "service due" message without either an expensive scan tool or an expensive dealer visit...

    upload_2023-4-15_17-51-50.jpg

Remind me to not buy a modern BMW.

I love 3d printers and using them to get around BMW's stupid specialty tools.. stupid wrench to take off the brake fluid cap, stupid handle to pull the coils, but also not stupid helpful ones like throttle body covers, fork seal drivers, underseat box, etc.

They should look into MotoScan if they have an android phone and a bluetooth OBD dongle. I use it on my F800 and can do *almost* anything the dealer or a GS911 can do. Oil change, dash/option configuration, servo control, re-learning sensors, seeing live values, etc. I use an iphone so I bought a $50 android burner, an OBDLink MX dongle (you have to have one with the right ELM chip in it though.. I forgot which one), a converter to go from the round diagnostic plug to the OBD spec, and the license for the app and was at less than half the cost of a GS911 or hexcode.

I'll tell him to look into that!

To be honest, I don't think these things would keep me from BMW ownership. Even at $350 I'd just factor the GS911 into the purchase price of the bike. It just surprised me how many hoops one would have to jump through vs something like my Versys (which to be fair is a lot older).
