Hi not sure if someone with a 5 spd stick (I'm 2.7l) can tell me if this is right. The angle of the clutch going into the master doesn't look straight. The clutch is super fierce. Really hard to find the biting point it's like all of a sudden it's engaged. Also the pedal when fully returned by natural movement is in a position. If you pull the pedal manually it pops up what seems like several cm or an inch and a bit :) is this normal?

No something is definitely off there, it looks like the piece I have circled is popped out of place. I belive it should be square with the rod.

Ok thank you, didn't think it looked right but I've seen some weird stuff on cars that is oem before :).

Next question would then be the master has that piece attached so what holds it in the 'tube' attached to the pedal (where you circled), is there a locking mechanism/clip/something?

I'm honestly not sure, I've never changed one and mine is set up differently than that.
You may look at the parts diagram at www.parts.toyota.com

No, the clevis/damper is broken You can see the rubber bushing pulled out of the can (that connects to the pedal)

So what I don't understand is that the 2 planes don't seem to line up. So wondering how a new cmc will help, won't the incorrect angle persist?

See the earlier pic without lines if required

Does the piece associated with the pedal pivot?

Imagine pushing on the center of your X until everything is in straight line again....that's how it should be. Both the clevis and the pushrod misalgned.

Something terribly wrong there. I had an '09 5-speed and it was not like that.
ToyMoCo has had a couple of TSBs to address a squeeky clutch and some other things along the way.
These included replacing the pedal and its mount, and the M/C.
If I were you the first thing I would do is to take your VIN and enter in the Toyota corporate site and see of there might have been a TSB done at one time by a dealer. If so, I wonder if there could have been a mis-orientation upon reassembly??

I'm about 90% sure that's an aftermarket unit....the OE unit should be plastic, not aluminum. Also pretty sure it comes with the pedal assembly at the dealer. The aftermarket makes the separate unit.

Did you get this fixed? I have a 6speed but after the master cylinder replacement my pedal was really wonky. Got back under and had a nasty angle like that. Turns out I didn't get the end of the master cylinder into the correct "seat" on the pedal.

Just had to shorten the master cylinder rod by turning it, then adjust to the right angle, then turn it opposite to lengthen until it hit the correct spot on the pedal. No issues since.

It's worth a shot before you spend money and start pulling the whole MC.

The 2 planes doesn't line up because the pushrod is broken. Pretty sure the MC comes with a new rod.

My 2011 6 cyl got a upgraded unit from the dealer years ago (tsb) and it was a whole pedal/bracket/master cyl assembly

Ok so thanks for the help/advice. I believe I’m missing (or it’s disintegrated) 31332-60010 which the cmc rod slots into. It’s on back order and its sister part 31331-60010 is available. I have ordered both and a cmc and I’ll have a play with all the bits when I have them. Will update once I’ve had a chance with pics if I can, to help others in the future. :)
