You speed demons are nuts. I'll hit triple digits in a car, but no interest in doing it on a bike.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I will agree with everything you said :)

I put the $20 Amazon Triumph visor on the Navi and really dig how it looks.

You say that now. At some point on some long straight road you’re going to wonder just how fast the bike will go.

I drive my car in the right lane at the speed limit, but I ride my bike as if everyone on the road is trying to kill me. Usually that means going fast and staying out of the way.

Maybe if I were younger, not fat, and buying a fast bike. I'm okay with old man adrenaline.

Once you hit triple digits on a bike, it's no fun any more in a car. :D

I used to hit 125+ mph on my 954RR all the time, no idea how I survived my mid-20's on that thing. I also topped my CBR600F4i at 151 mph.

I've had my Versys up to an indicated ~105 mph but it doesn't feel very happy. It's happiest at around 80 mph so that's where I ride it.

Yeah, and your Versys will do it better than my little CB500X will. Maybe someday I will max it, but I doubt it.

How hard was the TST adjuster install? I just picked up my ‘23 Grom a few days ago and put this on my short mod list (along with a rear fender delete and bar end mirrors). Going to enjoy it otherwise stock for a while since this is my first bike in over 10 years.

True. I'm a chicken. Part of me getting a bike is working on overcoming a fear.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Well gents, just got word my riding buddy was hit by a car yesterday. Fucking bitch was on her phone and plowed into the back of him at a stop sign.
He is doing exceptionally well considering the back of his white helmet is now green from the hood of the ServPro van :(
This is my best friend and riding partner for over 25yrs.
I am so glad he isn’t fucked up from this. This guy is a serious rider, only rides a motorcycle…no cars or trucks.

    Be safe out there. Fuck

Honestly it is something that will happen to all of us at some point. It sucks, but I don’t see any way to avoid it. I had two coworkers die last year in accidents entirely not their fault and got hit myself by a girl running a red light. We can be as safe as possible, wear the right gear and pay attention but it’s hard to protect against two tons of metal hitting an human body.

No one here is pointing any fingers at keeping things at low speed. That’s the best part of riding…it only matters what you want to do. You’re the pilot, everything else is secondary.
One of the courses I work in with people is actually…how slow can you go. Drawing a line in the dirt 15yards out, I get people to try and stay in their bikes the longest before reaching that line. No touching the ground. Then we go down to 10yrds, etc. Its a good drill for balance, clutch control and no using the brakes either :)

True. We will all experience some crazy shit…at speed or completely stopped.
Last time my buddy was in a wreck was in the 70s, so he had a huge run without a crash…other than his crashes at Road Atlanta.
I used to commute on a bike for about 12 years. I was an art director for turner entertainment and lived 15mins from the studio.
In that time I commuted thru a gauntlet which is known as downtown Atlanta. People didn’t give a fuck, I got into some brawls with folks over cell phone.
2 years ago I was in the worst out of the 6 crashes I have gone thru. A 17yr old driving a Tahoe pulled out I front of me on a country hwy. was going about 60 when she hit the side of my 1200gsa. Tore the bike into 2 pieces. Subframe, rear tire and drive shaft were came off the bike.
Only protection I had was to use the Bike as a shield. So when I saw here coming to to me, I lifted up left leg and put in on the other side of the tank so it wouldn’t be cut off. Watched that truck grill come into to where my leg was and rode the impact out.

And yes you’re correct, only so much you can do. I sued the fuck out of her insurance and them. I think got around 59k for that wreck. Bought myself a new KTM that week and kept trucking.

Damn. That sucks. I'm glad he's doing well. At least with it being a business vehicle he knows there's insurance. That's the scary thing to me is that the same kind of entitled asses that run without insurance are just as likely to not put down the phone and drive.

I've never owned a car that's faster than my cbr1000rr. I also never felt comfortable in a car going those speeds.

If you wanna get your ya-yas out the track is a great place to do it. We had a resident tortoise that would sun himself on the pavement in turn 4, about the only hazard which was nice. I wrung it out for a few years and it calmed me tf down on the street. I braap once in awhile but otherwise putt around 5 over or so. That and working at the bike shop those several years and losing the amount of friends I did to crashes (mostly self-inflicted) mellows you out.
Youre the PIC, ride however you want.
