My wife and I went to a pulmonologist a few months ago. Both of us have a persistent cough. The doc had a lot of leading questions which if I had allowed myself to answer them as he wanted would have, I'm sure, led to a CPAP machine/sleep apnea diagnosis.

As it was he suggested elevating the head of the bed eight inches. EIGHT inches...

We tried it for one night and it was so steep that we slid down to the foot of the bed. So we compromised at six inches. It took some getting used to, sleeping on the slope, but at six inches it's doable. Since then my wife has less wake-up headaches and we both have less coughing.

My wife and myself have been elevating the head portion of the bed for over a year now. Works out pretty well and we get a better nights sleep. The only downside is the fitted sheet sometimes pops off the mattress during the night.

Good morning. We had late afternoon thunderstorms yesterday and might have sone later on today. Lots of small projects on tap with a few I need my sons help with completing. Today is bean soup using up the ham bone from Easter. I usually do not follow a set recipe for bean soup. I prefer to use what I have on hand in the fridge and in the pantry. I had just under 5 ounces of pinto beans so I added 5 ounces of Mayocoba beans. Put them under water last night and a gentle heating up for an hour this morning. Going to add some onion. carrots, celery, small sweet peppers, and a Jalapeno pepper. Toss in a can of dices tomatoes and left over tomato paste from yesterday. Add some spices and a rib rub for extra flavor. Squeeze in some lemon and let it simmer all ay. Should pair nicely with a smoked chicken for dinner.

    Morning all:

Got the maintenance done on the zero turn just in time, looks like I need to mow, the couple days of warm weather and light rain really woke up the grass.

Bean soup is good Tom! :hungry: I used to mention making HamBeens 15 bean soup, I haven't made it in a while because the smoked pork hocks that I used aren't readily available at the store where I used to get them, need to find a new source for them.

Glad you enjoyed the trip with the van Travlr, hoping you have many more enjoyable excursions with it!

I'm not a fan of carting mine around, but I do it. I take a soda bottle of Distilled water in my bag. Small enough to not take up much room, but enough for a week or so.

Cpap isn't that bad and no slipping off your bed

@Travlr sounds like a great trip.

I used the humidifier for my original CPAP machine all year for the first few years, then just during the winter heating months for a few more years; some time around 2015 I stopped using the humidifier and haven't looked back. When I bought my new AirSense 10 last year I also bought the plug in to eliminate the humidifier tank; a side benefit is it makes the machine easier to travel with.

The HumidX, inline moisture recapture, has a 30-day life once opened. Bacteria build-up, so if you use it for a weekend, still pitch it after 30 days.

I use them for camping, but I need that heated water tank in low-humidity (AZ) areas.

I'm just now starting construction of Level 2 EV Charger Stations at my apartments. Holy cow, there are more electrical and fire codes involved than you can shake a stick at. By comparison, your project looks easy peasy!

Noticed there isn't a grounding lug on the new generator. Sure, one could be added, but I pondered why. The NEC says if the main electrical panel is grounded properly with the bonding screw installed (correct screw through the neutral bar into the case), and an approved ground rod is properly installed, then the entire system is bonded/grounded per NEC, including the generator when it is supplying power, since it is then integral to said (grounded properly) system. So simple.

Carl: The soup came out better than usual. The one Jalapeno pepper made it too spicy for the family.

Did you do the electrical work? Looks professional. Nice job with the plant pot support.

Good morning. Finished a few small jobs around the home yesterday. Today is just a mild shopping day. A few items at BJ's club and return an item to Amazon.

    Morning all:

You do not put Jalapeno peppers in bean soup Tom, unless you like them and want the bean soup all to yourself.

    Little different but here goes!
A guy I know had his auto repair shop, with an apartment above it, burn down due to a car hitting a pole across the street from it, It was insured, but to rebuild it to comply with current codes that are in effect he would end up with substantial out of pocket expense because the things he would need to install to meet code were not in place at the time of the fire, and not required, and thus not part of the insurance coverage.
You think you are fully covered for replacement value until you run into a situation like this, really can't blame the insurance company in instances like this. So, he can replace the building with the insurance money, and then lay out approximately $250,000 more out of pocket in order for it to meet code, which also means losing the apartment, I don't think he is going to rebuild it.
Strange thing with this is that it had nothing to with him being at fault in any way, I think I would be talking to a lawyer, which I would have to think he already has.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Back to the yard; 1/4 cord firewood to move, top soil to throw, pond filters to clean....

Should have been a LOT easier. "T" fitting was already in place in case I wanted to do this. Was just doing to did a little hole under the screening in the back, and where the outlet pipe is, and slide the wire under the raised shed.
14/2 I brought out was really two pieces, not one. I'd have preferred to use that.
12/2 I had a new 25' roll which should do it.
Something in the way, so I go get my metal fish. Fish does not want to get through either. Fish handle breaks off.
Unscrew all the screen, and tuck the wire inside and close it up. Screw the screen back on, and fill enlarged holes.
Put the GFCI in, make connections at the T, and discover I was holding the GFCI backwards. Redo that.
Try to screw the GFCI to the new box - the screws are too long and bottom out. Find some shorter ones.
Go to close up the T fitting, and that 12/2 makes things very difficult to fit back in. Trim all the wires and do it again.
Clean up and put stuff away....
Stupid, simple project took all afternoon!

Final code inspection is complete for our solar system (Green sticker on the meter box). Now just waiting from the final paperwork from the power company to complete the approval process - should have that in the next few day. Once it's all signed, the system will be turned on remotely through the company that did our installation (you can see that the system lever is in the "On" position on the right-most box). Should be cooking by the end of the week.
