    Hi all,

In case anyone is interested in pulling the trigger for a TRD CAI. I found it for $368, no tax and no shipping using the discount code FREESHIP I have been researching and looking for this everywhere at the best price I could find. Its a much better price than Bam Wholesale or Spark. I am installing on my 2023 OR although it says 2016-2022 the only reason is for emissions so if you live outside Cali it should be all good.

    part number PTR03-35160

If you order the individual parts it's cheaper. The bottom of your existing CAI is already the same for both.

These are actually readily available on EBay from a number of vendors for about this price. May of those vendors actually are Toyota parts dealers.

Yep, the difference is that with eBay you are paying the taxes and that particular seller does not accept any returns. I did search far and wide for over a month and still could not beat the price I found.

@6MTPro - you are correct as I did research that as well and it was a couple of bucks cheaper to piece it out. I chose to get the kit as a whole just to minimize any part errors or shipping damage…
    great point though!!!

FYI that oiled filter doesn’t do a good job at filtering. Once I saw a fine layer of dust in my intake tube, I quickly switched back to paper.

I was a believer for years, but never again will I be using any oiled type filter.

FWIW, you can achieve the same thing by installing HPS 57-1600 intake tube and air glue accelerator. Poor man’s trd intake.:)

Thanks Junkhead as I do appreciate your input on the oiled filter. I will definitely keep a close eye on it and if it looks like it’s not filtering to my satisfaction I will for sure get a dry filter…much appreciated!!

    Anytime!

IMHO stock paper is the way to go. It’s the same filter/intake that’s used in a 5.7L v8 tundra. That 3.5L gets more air than it needs.:)

Gonna keep this post in mind! Been eyeing that TRD CAI but not sure if I'd rather spend on a TRD skid

    TOO LATE BOUGHT SOME VLEDS:rofl:

Any additional thoughts on the HPS intake tube? Been thinking about it

I went the individual parts route, and got the whole set minus the filter for slightly less than $300. I went with the aFe washable performance dry filter.

Do you know if this will work just buying the top cover of the filter box, accelerator and intake tube?

If you are just going for looks and sound, then yes. You will need to swap to the airflow accelerator that is in the bottom of the filter box to see a "performance" difference, that and the filter itself.

You will also need the accordion shaped tubes to for the intake tube.

I went a modified route and did it with the flow accelerator, TRD Filter, TRD lid, and HPS tube that deleted the resonator.

I have the stock air box but trd filter and the accelerator. I just ordered the mishimoto hose which is exactly the same as hps but cheaper. It's dumb depending on color you get it's more expensive. Paid $157 shipped for the black mishimoto hose with 10% off code offroadwarehouse.

The variation in price must have something to do with how it's colored. The blue for the HPS was cheaper but it would look out of place with all the red and knew it would bug me so I just bit the bullet.
