I have ZERO issues with an aftermarket spacer. But all the false claims being spit out by Google Techs? lol... To each their own.

Didn't realize there was another thread on this.

Who threw their money away on this thing?

And if you did, do you also have raptor lights?

    Just conducting a survey

I'm interested in this, if there is some 3rd party dyno results to see. Already considering a tune, so it will be interesting to see if someone can dyno a tuned v6 without and then with a spacer. $3-fiddy for an inch of delrin slab seems steep, but the basic premise is sound.

If anyone wants to see how intake runner length and shape effects horsepower and torque, take a look at "garage 4age" on youtube. Australian dude who is constantly posting dyno run results with different intake and exhaust changes. Increasing runner length does shift the torque curve, so I'm willing to say this isn't complete bs, but then again it's only an inch-inch-and-and-a-half of extra runner length. Maybe it helps below 2500rpm, maybe it doesn't. But if it does, I'll be ordering one, because I'd like to see if it helps the low rpm sluggishness with my 6spd.

Ugh... fine. I'm buying one for my L4 manual and i'll tell you if it works or not, but i'm not doing any dyno crap. Either it obviously tows better or it doesn't. If it doesn't, i'm not gonna lie to you just to make myself feel better - IT'S ONLY $300.
These pissing contests are annoying. Physics says "this happens because science", users say, "this works just like science said it would", but Bubba Knowbetter be like, "Derpa derp, science is hard, i don't understand so it's stupid, and so are you, waste of money 101, derp..." You are good to go sir! I'd really like to hear your thoughts on it also. I've been running it for months now and given your experiences thus far per-spacer vs with-spacer are greatly appreciated!

Installed the spacer on saturday when i replaced spark plugs, just made doing the plugs a lot easier. I can definitley say that it does "add" a noticeable amount of torque between 1900-2400 rpm. My truck felt like it had no torque in that range especially when on an incline. Im usually very hesitant to purchase "performance" parts that claim to add torque and hp but this spacer has some established science to back it so i thought what the heck. Im glad i installed it, made the truck so much more fun to drive around town and through the hills i live in. Also running OVTune 2.0 premium and 93 Octane. I do think the price tag is a little high for a delrin block but thats just nit picking.

Premise sound indeed! I offered my truck to Shawn for the stock and spacer dyno runs. Though the dyno was difficult to capture the lower RPMS based on my setup (tires/stock tune/non-hub dyno challenges) the results captured were from those runs that Shawn uses. Having the spacer on my truck while performing real-world stock tune testing also was a welcomed improvement though of course all the other stock tune limitations were readily apparent to me.

I was very happy to get updated to KDMAX Pro (v9) after the dyno and road use testing was completed. I think it's a great combination which to me resulted in a slightly lower shift of the powerband. If you are looking for max gains and drag racing I don't think this option (think FI for that venture) but for an easy bolt on that helps improve one of the poor areas of our awesome trucks I'd say it's worthy of the cost. Par it with a KDMAX Pro tune and you've got a nice new truck that is the way it should have been stock.

p.s. raptor light free here ;)

Old Man Tan, can you tell me why you're running 93 octane? Not for this spacer, right? You're supercharged, maybe...?

    Yeah.
The graph for OEM seems smoother than the graph with the spacer.

I thoroughly enjoy my regear on stock tires but even with it, there is still absolutely nothing from the engine down low, esp in 2nd gear at like 5 mph. I would like to try the spacer but I feel like the absolute lack of response from this motor has to be tuning related somehow. I do have a tune and it's still utterly unresponsive down low, but I'd like to try some other tunes.

I have never seen a motor respond so poorly down low like the stock 3.5L does.

As for e-fans, I'm in the camp of "screw that". You can't possibly come up with a better cooling solution than stock for $300 and as you said, e-fans don't make much difference in torque anyways and especially not at low rpm. The only way to really lessen the load by using an e-fan is by using a fan that doesn't move much air, which is a cooling risk. Better off to leave that alone, the fan isn't the reason this motor is so gutless.

I changed diff ratios, drastically. I very much enjoy the results but it didn't fix the lack of balls down low. Of course, a spacer won't fix that. Both help though.

Its recommended to run 91-93 octane with the OVTune Premium file, otherwise theres a potential for engine knocking with lower octanes. 93 is the only grade available in my area besides 87 and 89. Also supposedly adds 20hp using premium fuel but i havent dyno'd my truck so i cant prove that. Still Naturally aspirated...for now...

Thanks, I'm tuned. Still has very little down low.

I just ordered a tuning kit and will be doing some testing near future.

BLtheP, do you find sufficient torque at higher rpm? If so, i think this spacer might be exactly what you need, according to reports and claims. It'll bring that high-end torque down to the range you'd like it.

It's decent. Any amount of shifting the power band down would be nice, though I'm not certain an inch or whatever the exact size is would make THAT drastic a difference, esp for the cost. But I am interested to try it eventually, and certainly don't scoff at the idea of an IMS.

I will say 2nd gear at 5 mph probably takes a second or two to get to 10 mph, whereas if I'm at 30 mph, it'll rocket to 40 mph quick. The power difference down low vs up high is extreme, but I'm not really convinced that's a runner issue, and more of an engine management issue.
