The same shit everyone else has.

    Factory Toyota rust.

The hitch, bumper, and support have been crunchy for a while now. We were bombing around forest roads camping this weekend and blasted a pretty good rut and it ejected itself.

The funny thing is the rest of truck is spotless underneath other than the driver side running board.

wow! i mean i know the frames are known to go to crap but wow! ive actually been thinking about pulling my bumper and hitch and scrubbing all the rust off the hitch and hitting it with some black spray paint and smearing some film onto the hitch joints to keep things cleaner longer.

I wouldn’t wait. Mine went from just kinda rusty to ejected in like a year.

Painted the cupholder center console piece today. I sprayed three coats of satin black Krylon Fusion but didn't like the way it looked, so I added four coats of DupliColor Bed Armor spray over it. It gives it a nice textured look and didn't cost me anything extra. The only prep that I did to it was wash the plastic in the sink with dish soap and water to clean off any contaminants. I like the silver accent pieces on the dash but always felt it was too much on the cupholder area. I think the black really cleans the interior up. Now I just need to switch out the shifter knob to something else.

Haven't made it to that one yet. I spent Friday and Saturday exploring Sproul and Bald Eagle State forests.

    Are you geared for 37s?

I've been redoing my suspension slowly and acquiring parts to go 37s. I am considering getting LCAs from Solomotorsports cause it moves the wheel forward an inch. I want to avoid having to cut into the firewall/wheel well. I have new shackles, hangers, ubolt flip kit, high clearance cross tube from archive garage. C4 front bumper to help with clearance as well. Just dont know if I want to relocate my rear shocks. Id have to run 2 inch wheel spacers to clear the shock with my current wheels. After all that, I still have to regear.

I took the family kayaking on Lake Jocasse this past Saturday. I love how smooth the Eibach coilovers just float on roads like horse pasture and bootleg. The only flaw is it makes you want to drive faster and faster.

I have always sandblasted anything that I can before prep and paint. Scrubbing the rust off won’t be enough in my experience.

Don't forget the road where horse pasture and bootleg meet closes at the end of turkey season so you don't have much longer to go. It will open again at deer season.

Yes I have 5.29 gears, I haven’t even broken them in even though they’ve been installed for 2 years, I’m hoping I don’t regret it. I was very on the fence between that and 4.88

In your opinion, is it worth regearing if you’re running 295/75/16’s?

Im on the fence on those two. I had 5.29 on my 3rd gen 4runner and enjoyed it. Even with 33s. Might still stick to that when I go 37s.
