10k oil baths, ive done windy roads in Tennessee with it but 550 with zero brakes was nerve racking.

I have horrible luck with tires too, we blew 6 to and from Tennessee.

6 to and from colorado. We leave floor jack and impact on the trailer and can manage it in under 5 min easy.

Took it to Wyoming to get this flatbed and not 1 flat.

Wow. Sounds like one of my rescue trips to northwest Wyoming. 5 trailer tires.

Now I run G rated tires on my 8k axles. I should have 17.5's to offer a little more wiggle room. Ever since I went to these Hercules 901's and run Centramatics my tire wear is minimal.

I would like to order a PJ 40 ft with 17.5s but they have sky rocketed in price, possibly a load trail. Big Tex scares me.

Those 901s are very good tires, ride so smooth. Have them on a dump trailer I temporarily have.

I only run Load Trails. Well, that's not totally true since I share a Texas Pride 28', but my last 4 trailers have been Load Trail. The white one is a beast in comparison to the Texas Pride trailer. All my friends call the truck and trailer combo "moby dick." Can you believe that?

Ive been by most their plants, they are pretty close. PJ, load Trail, and Diamond C definitely had the nicest and most organized facility hands down. Lamar looked like a warzone. What state are you in?

I can agree with that. Diamond C is just out of my price range for anything reasonable.

If I could have any trailer, it would be a Midsoda. Those are works of art.

    I'm in Colorado.

The head gasket was the root of the whole issue. The head gasket started to fail, but was not actually blown, in 2021; I have no idea how or when it happened, but I thought that it was simply the truck "using oil" due to old age. I switched to 10W30 to compensate, and this totally nuked my gas mileage. Now that I'm running 0W20, my gas mileage is back within factory specs!

I had to just do something similar with oil. The Lexus takes 5w30 and I couldn't find any locally (I was a little shocked) and just blended half of the required oil 3.3 qt that I had at home with some 10w30 I picked up. I did notice a little hit on the fuel economy.

To not play that game anymore I will be ordering my oil online and have it on the shelf from now on. Same with filters.

That is a fine trailer! Did you custom fab those removable side walls or did the trailer come with those? I'm doing some work on my 81 GMC Sierra 3500 dually and would like to get a fifth wheel eventually.

Those are 16' cedar boards and some 2" C channel I bolted together. I've used this setup now for years. I haul a lot of boulders (wife is a rock hound).

Do yourself a favor and get hydraulic jacks. That is a game changer when it comes to gooseneck trailers.

I'm not sure if this fits into the craziest, most interesting, or unique category... but it is the sexiest thing I have towed: 72 Nova with a built 427 and 4 speed auto. Thing is nuts but we're not getting oil to the upper parts (making between 6 and 15 pounds of oil pressure) so the motor needs to come out and I'll be checking for a blown galley plug.

Thankfully no metal in the oil and everything else seems healthy. Will see once the motor is apart. Anyway... the sexiest, fastest, and heaviest thing I have ever towed with my Taco to date. Only across town though so I'm not sure if < 10 miles counts. :anonymous: Heavy Dakars just soaked up the bumps.
