When I was in college, now and then the local gas stations would engage in a "gas war," where one would drop their price by a penny, then another would drop, etc. until the price for a gallon was around 20 - 23 cents. Two and a half bucks would fill my VW Beetle!

I remember gas wars. Dad would fill 55 gal barrels for 18 cents a gal.

I remember when my parents told me, six decades ago, to never put cash in the mail, as you just cannot trust people with some things.

Well we could not trust the postman with cash, but now we trust him with our votes. This is what I wanna ask every government representative who voted for vote by mail. Would you put your cash in the mail? Every year? On the same day?

    No freaking way!

I can’t remember what price it was selling for when I was working the pumps, maybe $.47 but I do remember buying it for as low as $.26. Back then I had a motor scooter and I could fill the gas tank for $.88

Back in 1966 when I was in high school I worked in a Chevron station pumping gas and doing some mechanical auto repairs for the minimum wage of $1.25 an hour. Gas was around .26 cents a gallon and the owner gave me a 2 cents a gallon discount. 20 hours a week and I had lots of money to put gas in my tank and take girls on dates. For $8 I could buy dinner for my date and I and go to the drive-in movie and get popcorn and coke. Life was good.
My first gigs were Oakland Tribune paper route and cutting neighborhood lawns. My first car was a 59 Chevy, $500 , . I was living large.

No. Pike Place location has been there since I was 3yo.

SBUX has been on nearly every freaking street corner here in King County, specifically downtown Seattle/Bellevue, they are everywhere. One just closed near me due to pandemic and another oped just 2 blocks away from that location. So within 2 blocks, there were 4.
