no but with a tonneau cover on my last road trip, I was on some red dusty roads and the inside of the bed was caked with dust - with the cover on it must create a suction/venturi via the tailgate gaps and suck all that crap in.

I’m now starting to hate mine. I want a truck to be a truck not a clean vehicle. But days I want a “locker” to store stuff and we’ll the cover stays on an other day. But buy TYGA brand off Amazon $219 bro bro

Never had an issue with my tri-fold tonneau cover and I carry a few things in the bed at all times plus it comes off in 2 minutes. My tail gate is always locked so if they want the stuff they will have to work for it. As for a cap I’ve never understood it I understand for a work truck but for a daily driver no thanks I’ll buy a 4Runner at that point.

How concerned should you be? I guess that depends on what kinda junk you keep in yo trunk! I have a tri fold and really like it as it fits my needs well.

    Carry on!

I live somewhere where they will steal whatever shit they see whether it’s secured or not, so it shouldn’t even be anywhere near your truck, and whatever can’t be stolen will be smashed and or vandalized in a fun way.

There are people here in the bay area with overlanding builds and I don’t know how they just don’t have everything stolen from their truck when they go to the grocery store.

You can't hose out the back of a 4runner after putting ducks, geese, deer, etc. in it. I can also throw all my muddy hunting gear in the bed or my saltwater fishing gear. I can put more gear in the shell and pack it to the roof (compared to a tonneau) if I want and then lock it.

No worries on roadtrips when I'm staying in a hotel at night that my gear is safer or when I'm in a restaurant or gas station that my gear is going to walk......

I've took a 60 lb. bag of concrete that needed to be moved out of the way, and put on top of my tacoma tonneau cover, and it was fine till I loaded on my hand truck with a couple others, but I don't think I'd leave up there. Really don't how much they are actually rated to hold.

It depends on the cover. I can stand on mine. When I put a duffel bag on top and tie off to the bedrack, it's less than 15 lbs, typically.

Really enjoy the retrax tonneau x uptop overland bed rack combo. KB Voodoo and Extrusion Overland also make bedracks compatible with the retrax cover. I prefer the retrax over a tri fold tonneau as you can still open it with the bed rack installed.

I have a mid height bed rack that keeps my RTT basically at the same level as my roof. If I was gonna do a full hight bed rack, I would prefer to have a truck bed cap.

Have yet to have someone break into the truck bed with the retrax cover, and I live in Boston. Only thing I have mounted to my bedrack is a set of rototrax. Just checked the other day and the damn rotopax lock is seized, so if a thief wanted to steal the rototrax they would be crossing something off my to-do list drilling out that lock

Anything can be broken into. What the shell does better is store more gear and make it not be a target of opportunity. The vast majority of people stealing stuff out of your truck don't have a key like that.....

I've stood on a 3' step ladder, and laid across mine when wiping it down with a tonneau protectant....really don't know if, or how much weight was actually on it, only that if felt like sort of like being on a sheet of 1/2'' plywood.

Yeah, I wouldn't put a lot of weight on it, or put it dead center.

How about tonneau, 10" bed rack over that, softtopper, then larger rack over that?

Add an iKamper RTT on top of all that gear and you got yourself a deal.

Hunted fished my whole life there are ways to keep your vehicle clean while also hauling dirty stuff a truck is or a truck with a topper is not the only way to do this. Now if you don’t give a shit how or what you throw in your vehicle then ya a truck is the better way to go topper or not. As to stealing stuff if a criminal wants it they will get it regardless of how it’s stored.
