Harmonics are the major item at play here. The longer runners resonate at a lower frequency and thus move the output lower in the RPM range. This is not something a tune can change as it is a mechanical function of intake runner length. The ACIS valve does impact this but it is only switching between long runners and short runners, this spacer just lengthens both of those slightly. Here again a tune cannot affect much since the ACIS is open or closed and cannot change the mechanical length of the runners themselves.

Again, harmonics, or resonant frequencies, are in fact the major reason longer runners move power around. The moving airmass does have a minor impact but isn't much since everything you gain in having a larger moving airmass is also lost trying to GET that larger airmass moving in the first place.

A tune complements this but neither are a replacement for the other.

@Great Dane , this is excellent. Thanks for posting. Since you'll be doing a performance-before/after post for this, can you tell us if you did the same with your K&N intake? I'm starting with this spacer, but adding the intake next if it's worth it. I'd do both at once, but i really like to know what works and what doesn't, and how much, if at all, etc.

I wound up not using my torque wrench and using the German measure of torque, aka Gudentite.

I didn't do the same with the K&N and the AFE throttle body spacer, and this is why:
My truck is a '21, and I ordered it. While I was waiting for it, I bought parts for it, to include the K&N air intake and AFE throttle body spacer. I picked the truck up with 3 miles on it, and it had 44 miles on it when I got it home.
The next day, I started putting parts on it, to include a URD catless midpipe, the air intake, and the throttle body spacer. I ordered the truck with the TRD catback on it. So I never really drove it as a stock truck, except for those first 41 miles getting it home.
Since then I've also added a KDMaxx tune to it. And then this Manifold spacer.

So...........I had to pick up a couch today, so I got a chance to put some miles on the truck and see what if any improvements this spacer made.
I'm glad to say that it was money well spent. I could actually notice that torque came in around 2000 rpm, and it took even less pedal to keep the truck at speed, even with the KDMaxx tune. The truck is also more pleasant to drive now.
I'm looking forward to putting the one I have for my 4Runner on now.
    I highly recommend this.

I really think that would cause hood clearance issues.

Any additional feedback on how the spacer changes the driving experience?

Still trying to figure out what more of substance, or not-a-butt dyno, someone is expected to provide simply from a test drive....

If you're looking for dyno results, sorry, but you won't get those here.

OP state the torque came around 2000 with a less pedal . Where the torque was before? What was TPS and engine load before and after. You don't need a dyno to see affect.
FYI, if you reset ECU learning values or reflush the tune, the truck will drive like a dream for a few

He said he noticed a difference. If you want specifics then pay for a dyno because that is the only thing that counts. Some guy on the internet saying "will, at a sustained 28.3% throttle it FELT stronger at 2000 rpm" means as much and as little as "felt stronger down low".

Ya but the intake under the hood pulling in heated air? I kinda thought the Tacomas already came with true cold air intakes? :anonymous:

Ok, is this reference to accelerator or throttle? And in which gear?

I suppose it's a good thing he's asking for log data and not their opinion on how it "FELT".
