always! hard core access cab fan here

 

Looking to trade my 2002 in and get an access cab in lunar rock but dealership tells me its near impossible to get and that I could wait up to 8 months

 

I got the same doom and gloom response from my dealer. I requested a trd off road in manual transmission at the beginning of January. I was told I could get it in a month or maybe by the end of the year. Now I am picking it up Thursday. Long story short its just a matter of the dealer putting in the request and getting the allocation. The longest part was from the time it was built to shipping the truck up north. For me it wasn't that long but for others on here it's been months unfortunately. I'd try to get a request in by the end of the month because that's when the build requests are due. Worst case you put a little $ down on a request or in my case nothing, depends on the dealer. Good luck man!

Lunar Rock and Access Cab is a very hard find. You may need to travel.

It’s not really that simple, and your dealer has no control over the process. What really happened is that you got lucky. Your dealer was probably going to be allocated that truck, or at least that model code, and whatever color/options they requested was accepted.

I have a customer that waited 15 months to get his Tacoma because he wanted a very specific build. My inventory manager “requested” that truck through about 28 allocation cycles before Toyota decided that they were going to build one for us.

If it was as simple as your dealer checking a few boxes, don’t you think we would order whatever you wanted?

I have a customer now that wants an SR5 Premium 4Runner, and there is no way for us to request it without a moonroof and a third row seat, neither of which is something he wants or wants to pay for.

I have another customer that ordered a M/T Tacoma over two months ago and we had to kill the deal because Toyota decided to cease M/T production (at least for my region) midway through the model year with no warning. They basically told us, “we’re not building those anymore, sorry.”

Your mileage may vary, but most dealers will make every effort to get you the car or truck that you want. We can only deliver what Toyota decides to build.

I would have loved to ask for premium package without the moonroof on my Tacoma but I figured one had to come with the other.
