Oh I feel you. I spent every summer as a kid in Washington between Marysville, Everett and Yakima, and love the beauty of the state. But similar to my multiple times living in California, the other external factors get really hard to ignore.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
She's cute... hiding in a sea of million dollar homes.

Look at that cute thing! Park your rig under that car port! Given the price you can MOD the living hell out of your TACO...!!!!

We lived in W Sea for 25 yrs...moved across the sound to port orchard 5 yrs ago...getting out of Seattle was the main benefit but selling a bare lot in W Sea netted us enough to buy a 3/3 3600 aft on 5 acres of wooded bliss...the ferry up there is about 20 mins and runs almost on the half hour...might be worth the trade off...check the Kingston area...btw taxes (all) are also lower over here...

There's some decent spots in the Mukilteo area. Lots of new apartment construction, so you might just rent a new spot for a year while you house hunt. My folks are moving up in the next two months, so we've been doing a ton of house hunting. They're trying to stay under $700k, but looking for a 3 bedroom. There are some spots that pop up much less for a smaller place. Also, slight cooling of the market is helping, as stock is increasing. (but not by much)

Sounds like you've moved around a bit. Picking a place to buy and build equity is usually good for long term financial health is something to consider. Obviously don't know your line of work, availability of said work and all other factors that make the previous statement untrue.

In any case, if you decide to move to the area, welcome!

Lived in Bellingham the last 8ish years or so... Sad to see such a decline in that short of a time span. Can only assume same is happening with Everett.

Update: Offer signed today. Looks like Ill be an Everett resident again by late May! Obvious pluses and minuses to the area, but the offer was too good to ignore with good growth potential. Worst case, its a few years and off to the next gig.

Thanks for everyones input. I really appreciate it. Once I get settled, maybe we can look into a west side WA meetup.

Gonna be renting a place in the short term until I can find something. Property is obv absurdly priced, but looks like I'll make out pretty well on my SLC house in the longer term.

Just seeing this thread so I'm a little late. I work in Everett but live about 30min north. Let's get out for some mtn biking once you get settled, I haven't been riding nearly enough but I am heading to Galbraith soon.

    Congrats!

Congratulations. What a beautiful area to live. We are going to Whidbey Island area this summer to check out some Orcas. Maybe toss a kid in the water to see if they bite.

    Just kidding...about the kid part.

    Now you're just trolling...

Welcome back. If you are curious the morning trip across the Trestle from Lake Stevens to Everett is about half an hour.

I knew of a couple people that would ride motorcycles to Everett from Whidbey Island. The motorcycles would get priority loading onto the ferry, skipping the lines.

I'd love that. Def need new riding buddies. Anywhere good locally to the Everett area that could be hit after work? I've been to Lord Hill Park a couple times on foot and heard of Japanese Gulch.

Yeah, I'm excited to have a moto in WA for ferry trips. Trying to figure out the logistics of getting my bike up there. Thinking of selling my Triumph sport tourer and eventually upgrading to an ADV just because I'll be in an apartment for a little while to start.

I take it you haven’t actually been to an impoverished country before.

I would leave your politics out of these threads as it’s the fastest way to get it shut down.

What I was saying is that it’s laughable to compare a city such as Seattle to impoverished cities where the monthly wage is an average of $20 USD and there is no running water or where the entire town burns their garbage.

Less safe than South Africa or South America? Please compare their murder/homicide rates and compare Seattle’s and come back with data that proves it’s worse off than third world cities.

No? Responding to you to validate your claims isn’t passive aggressive. That’s not a passive response, nor is it aggressive.

So El Salvador which is the country with the highest homicide rate is 61.7 per 100,000 and double the population of seattle and Seattle is 53 homicides per 100,000 not to far off. Seattle is 134% for dangerous than the average US city. This is all if you trust google.
