all MPG arguments could be moot in the mid sized truck genre. I'm predicting close to 30mpg. But just a guess.

Come with me sir and let me show you the land of Mercedes Sprinter vans living in the rust belt.
Maybe with the hybrid, if the Ranger and GM gasser turbos show us anything, maybe a 1-3 gain over current.

Turbo diesel would fix the lowend torque and mpg woes, but nooooooo….

When you spend 30 years in the auto repair business, you learn quickly what is solid and what's a piece of shit. Plenty of good cars other than Toyota. Hell, Saturn made a good car! lol. For me, I stay away from any Hyundai product.

The El Camino was body on frame though, instead I'd say its alot more like a Dodge Rampage or VW Rabbit Pickup.

If Tacoma's had 1/1000th of the engine problems Hyundai's have, we'd burn this place to the ground.

Santa Fe was the POS with people on their 3rd recall engines within 100k. Santa Cruz was introduced after the recall range; its shittiness is not fully proven.

It’s funny how when you talk to people that own them they tend to love them and not have any problems. The 100K warranty is pretty nice too. If Toyotas are so flawless then why don’t they offer a similar warranty?

I'm thinking Toyota will surprise us with at least a 5mpg gain around town.

I still see old Saturn's driving around and they are retired mostly due to being totaled not engine issues. This was one of GM"s best built vehicles.

That'd be nice. I'm doubtful though. I don't think it will move that much.

Yup the SUV (VUE) had a Honda V6 powertrain. Honda makes good engines!

I'm thinking more like a 1 MPG gain, 2 at best.

So I would get 23.5 than what I am getting now. Better, but still meh….and 5 is doubtfulhttps://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/ranger. Hybrid might push it past 25, only imagine how much that is going to cost since it most likely will only be available in upper trims. At that point think I would buy the diesel Silverado 1500.

Learn something everyday, thought they would be Isuzu engines with their partnership.

Toyota's logic when it comes to adding features: "If we do nothing, are people going to stop buying Tacomas? No? Carry on..."

It is like being married, ya love ‘em but there are some things that drive you nuts, however you give them a pass because you love them.

it never is. I paid $10K more than I wanted for my new truck. It did buy piece of mind, at least for a little while.
