I am moving forward with a little bigger tire, 285/70/17 on the trd 4r wheels (currently running a 265/70/17)

    edit:
As my truck sits now there is quite a bit of room. I'd be curious if the actual mounted (on the truck) measurement of the 285/70/17 is. My 265/70/17 BFG mounted on the truck is exactly 31"

if I had the 285/70/17 mounted measurement I could really fine tune my size up measurements.

I can’t find any posts that specifically says this combo won’t work.

I think overall I’m dealing with just 1” approx bigger set up…. Appears I have room but want to dump my specs here and see if anyone is running a similar set up and had issues or zero issues. I can’t find any “no-go” post on this set up so looking for any input - thanks.

23 v6 DC TRD sprt 4wd, eibach stage 2 with 2” of lift up front (no more lean) Icon rxt stage 2 in rear, re-gear 5.29, Ironman 4x4 UCA’s, 4R TRD wheel +4 offset(oem not sema)

just want a little bigger tire and the 285/70/17 should work but curious if anyone has some pointers or info I may be missing. Appreciated.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
CMC? You're going to rub there at least without one.

Technically from what I've read, the width of the 4runner wheel is a bit narrow for the tire, but I have the same size mounted up to the same wheels and now run that combo on my 4th gen 4runner. I bet you'd need a CMC for any off-road on the Taco. I run skinny 33s on my Taco now and have been wanting to swap the wheels over from the 4Runner just to see how they'd look and fit for shits and giggles.

Here are some pics of that tire size and wheel on my 4Runner anyway :) not helpful for you really but you can see that they look good on those wheels!

EDIT I have the old SEMA t4r wheels, yours look like a newer version perhaps? Offset and width is prob the same though, at least maybe this gives you an idea of how they actual combo would work

I'm at work right now, if I can find a tape measure I'll run out and check it out for ya. Otherwise when I get home for sure!

The UCA caster will be a big factor. I have 285s with mudflaps and no rubbing or CMC issues.

My UCA’s are suppose to allow for up to 4 degrees of caster the Ironmans.
Sweet whip man. Thanks for the input.

Thanks, If you want you can get the the thin 12mm spacers with the longer bolts to get the 4runner wheels closer to 0mm offset which seems to be the sweet spot. Current setup on my 4runner too.

I have 285’s but removed mudflaps, no cmc. But also haven’t gone off roading yet.

How close did you end up to body mount?

Yeah I bet the BFG’s are 32.1” installed. My tundra had Toyo at3’s in 35” and measured 34”

it just looks like I have to room height and width…..

@VaToy fitted his 285s without CMC. I believe he is running stock mudflaps too.

I’ve seen several vids where people have. One I’m sure everyone’s seen Chloe’s taco with 1.75” front lift and method w zero offset fit

It was slightly rubbing the mudflaps when turning all the way so very close. I’m on 2” lift and 0 offset wheels
