Sounds like a solid day to me. Always wanted to make it out to Sea Otter.

What’s chance Transition could be gracious enough to provide a shuttle for this event.

I don’t mind the pedal, I just don’t prefer it.

Slim to none would be my guess.

It’s just a couple dudes in a van with a bunch of bikes they have to manage/maintain all day. Get on the Repeater.

I can run people back up to their vehicles, but my rig only holds two bikes.

It's not just the tread, the compound of the rubber breaks down with use. The molecular structure of the rubber starts to change with deformation causing the grip to drop off significantly. Even fresh looking rubber that's been ridden a bunch will grip significantly worse than a fresh tire.
Most tires start to lose grip after about 500 (hard riding) miles, regardless of tread condition.
I suspect the difference you're feeling on climbs is due to that change specifically. Either way, it's $100 to replace a worn tire at most. People throw 10-15x that on suspension to make the bike grip better.

Yeah, still using the old ass Yakima on mine. No fancy features. I do admit that the Sensus Taco Pad would be sweet, but it's been out of stock for years. Big pockets for stuff, easier on-off, and the add-on seatbacks would be cool.

I have the Thule pad the medium size one. Has a flap that you can fold down so you can use the backup camera. Takes about 2 minutes to put it on. Makes it last longer that way rather than leaving it on permanently.

I'm not paying $100 for a tire, either way I kind of want to try a DH casing tire. I only run enduro casings now, I just want to feel the deadening effect everyone raves about.

You'll love it, I raced the xc race a few years ago and have been dying to go back since. Living on the opposite coast does not help lol.

I buy tires before I need them, I just don't take the time to change them out like I should.
I've got some Enduro Casing E13's right now I got when they were having a sale.

I need more advice, I'm rocking the Code RSC on my bike which have been amazing. I got some rear brake fade on one stage of the enduro a few weeks ago, definitely the longest and steepest stage, otherwise they performed flawlessly. I'm running stock pads with the regular centerline rotors. I think they just got too hot, I may have potentially damaged the pads from the heat so I will try to sand them down before anything. I've got a 50 mile race soon that will have some long descents and I kind of want something that is more resistant to fading if possible. Luckily, I don't think anything will be as steep as the other race.

Do you guys think a different rotor/pad combo will help with fade? I'm thinking a 2 piece rotor like the centerline X and maybe galfer or trick stuff pads?

@abacall any thoughts? I'm running those trick stuff pads you sent with the brakes in the front and really like them, maybe I'll try them in the back too if I can find some.

Bigger rotor isn't an option since I'm already at the max with a 200MM rotor. I should probably ride the brake a little less haha.

Go with a tad thicker rotor, Magura is 2mm and Hayes is 1.95.
I could be wrong at 200mm, but I believe Sram is 1.8 across the board.
