Maybe I’m weird, I love the smell of diesel exhaust in the morning.

Yeah, it is certainly weird, had some great ideas though, pass through front gate, movable roof, storage in the tailgate that we are just now seeing on trucks. GM borrowed some ideas (can’t remember which came first A-Bat or Avalanche) one of the GM SUVs had a sliding roof, for those times when you had to haul grandfather clock, which apparently is often for some I guess! Lol! Think that had poor sales and they canned it.

That concept based off the mini cruiser is much better. I’d drive that to Home Depot and flex other middle-aged men picking up bags of mulch. Maybe grab a couple flats of flowers too! Yeah-Boiiii!

I used to. Also used operate heavy equipment for a living, smelling like diesel and grease all the time gets old.

Love the smell of 2-Stroke exhaust too, doesn’t mean I want to follow one all day on the trail. Makes me a hypocrite, but oh well… :D

AN XUV! Believe it or not my buddy had one and I had to help him move something once, not a grandfather clock, like a file cabinet or something, but yeah the roof slid back and voila!

    I remember thinking wtf?

    Thanks GM lol.

LOL! Those things were weird, and had a very specific hauling requirements. Of course my sister also owned an Aztec. Some of the shit that makes it into production. Where there are some stellar concepts that never do. Where’s my nuke powered car? Only need to refuel it every 15 years…

I don't see much point to utilizing electric motors for power boost either. I can understand adding complexity to a system for efficiency. We already know how to add power without adding much complexity. Seems like a waste unless you're going with current market trends instead of best practice.

And I would buy it in a heartbeat. I always have my real tacoma on standby to come winch me out of sticky situations.

Man, you don't even touch on the best part of this XUV and why I personally consider it almost Peak GM and why they suck. Certainly highlights why old GM went broke.

This XUV, Envoy I think was the model name, but it had a 4.2 straight 6 that GM spent billions on developing and manufacturing to simply not do anything else with it outside of a few other SUV type vehicles. And even then I think it was only made for 5-10 years. It was a sweet motor and GM just never did anything special with it. They did spin off 4 and 5 cylinder related motors for other vehicles, but still.

The sheer amount of money spent developing that roof and motor and then, Poof, gone in a decade.

Good grief that's ugly as hell. 4th gen has to look good by comparison to every other thing they have released lately.

    Right?

The 5-cylinder version in the Colorado/Canyon was not very desirable IMHO.

Yes the 2.5l non turbo hybrid does. Not the hybrid max. Different motor. The linked post explains it all.

I've never heard anything about that motor. Never ridden in a vehicle powered by one or even known anyone who owned one lol.

My ex gf's son bought one against my strong recommendation not to. It shit the transmission in less than 2 miles of purchase, also had a warped head and basically ended up as lawn decoration.

Gotcha, thought it was the Max since it is listed right below the mpg number.

Actually I don’t mind it. Makes more sense than the Sequoia, have you seen how awful the rear cargo space is? They are quasi marketing it to overlanders, what a pain in the ass putting in drawers, a fridge, and a pull out kitchen in there. What a waste of space. What they could of done is moved the spare to a swing out and dropped the battery down between the frame rails.

And no, the third row seats aren’t removable.

The series hybrid motor in the max is less complex than a modern automatic transmission. It’s a small electric motor with a clutch that produces 48hp and 100 pound ft of torque sandwiched between the engine and the transmission. Simple system at the end of the day. You can’t add the same amount of power unless you have a significantly larger engine which wouldn’t pass emission requirements and would get worse mpg, or a diesel powertrain which is far more complex with the new emission control systems. Nothing can beat 100 pound ft of torque at 0 rpm of an electric motor. The tundra is making 583 torque at 2400 rpm. Imagine how good a Tacoma with the 2.4t max set up would be. 400 pound ft of torque at 2400 rpm sounds amazing for off roading and towing. Not to mention the coolant system was given a serious upgrade on the tundra. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Tacoma gets similar treatment.

That giant grille is woof imo on the GH. I've read a bunch of complaints about the sequoia storage issues. That's bad.
