With the fresh learning value reset, ecu reset, flash fresh ott and with having the Anderson engineering intake spacer and it pairs very well with Ott. I do have to compliment in 5th gear doing 60mph when torque converter goes into full lock it is super smooth. I did add the RAS suspension system to eliminate axle wrap in my truck. These are just my impressions as of this morning. Before I had 285/75/16s . Today I run 315/75/16s and so far Ott makes it feel like it's not a issue one bit.

For ones that don't know much about my truck .
    Ripp performance coils
    Afe throttle body spacer
Oil catch can on both valve covers
    Premium fuel 92 octane
    Rear cat delete
Went back to TRD stock exhaust
K&n performance intake with Blackhawk synthetic dry filter
    Anderson engineering intake manifold spacer
Change oil every 5k mi or less
Run a tank of Chevron fuel additive every 3k mi
Service transmission fluid once a year regardless of miles
Service all gear oil once a year regardless of miles.

That's about all I do or have done to my truck. I'm big on maintenance. One more thing I'm on stock gearing with the bigger tires.

I'll continue to post at times of highlights of Ott from my perspective. I live at sea level and should be able to really see the full potential of Ott . I run this tune in the past and it's a great tune . I really like it for heavy hauling or towing . This go around I'm really wanting to dig deep on how it reacts to my daily driving and summer adventures this year .

    My truck weight is 5400lbs

So I have put 130 mi on a fresh flash ott . Now when I've run this tune before , I can guarantee I was dealing with bad axle wrap. Axel wrap can really kill a tune. I'm feeling this tune like I've never had before. With addition of Anderson engineering intake manifold spacer and ras suspension system, the acceleration is so smooth and comes on very well. O t t definitely has their own unique creation. Another note the effort on pushing the throttle between 60mph and 65mph fifth or six gear is pretty effortless.

Prior to making certain adjustments to my truck I had different thoughts or views of this tune and now I can start to see what I've read from some and most OTT users. I am having a better experience than I have before. That's all for now until later time I want to put more miles on this tune.

Ragen from Ky Truck Tuning hooked it up today! He's open for business so anyone in the Kentucky area give him a shout and get your Tacoma plugged into OTT!

I have been so disappointed with my 2021 Tacoma that I actually started the process of looking for another vehicle. I happened to stumble across a video talking about this OTT tune and figured after all the reviews, $400 was worth giving it one last shot.

Went with the lite-mild tune as my truck is 100% stock. It was absolutely noticeable the second I pulled out of his driveway. It takes a few minutes to get used to the throttle. It reminds me of the feeling of taking off wrist weights and how light your arms feel, that's what it felt like driving around, if that makes sense. The ECT Power button was just ridiculous I can see how it would be useful for towing or hauling something heavy but the lite tune was MORE than sufficient for my truck. A drastic difference in throttle response by pressing the ECT button, no question...

I went on a nice country drive for about 45 mins and hit the rolling hills of Central Kentucky. It was an absolute PLEASURE to drive. My truck is auto but it felt like a manual because the gears were shifting at the right time. I did notice at about 40mph, (for a slight second) it felt like a hiccup where the transmission wasn't sure which gear it wanted. Considering how it was always searching for gears prior to the tune, I'll take this result. Plus, I need more driving time to sort it out but it was the only blemish that I could find.

Time will tell about mpg but in my 45 min drive, I was getting considerably better performance and gas milage. Not just slight, it was a considerable difference. So far, I am convinced that this tune has absolutely changed the quality of my drive and really, that's the point. It is soooo much better to drive!

Overall, I'd give this tune a 9/10 rating (concerns being the slight hiccup I experienced at 40mph and the unknown consequences of how this tune will impact the truck long term, if any.)

I think the OTT tune has brought out the best in my Tacoma. Big thanks to Ragen who just started tuning this week so again, if you're in the Kentucky area and thinking about a tune, hit him up! Glad I did.

If you experience that hiccup any more please reach out to Ragen and let him know. We'll want to collect some data on that as this would not and should not be a normal occurrence.

That "hiccup" might very well have been from my sobbing tears of joy :D Yes, I will stay in touch with Ragen and I'll update my post in a week or so. Thanks Justin!!

I've got 3 things I'd like to address with a tune:
-Throttle response. I just want it to behave like it has a cable attached. Pedal is 50% down? Throttle should be 50% open.
-Rev hang. Related to above. Close the damn throttle when I let off the gas.
-Low end torque. Not sure how much can be done with the ol camry engine, but if possible I'd really like it to have some more torque at low RPM.

Can these things be accomplished with OTT? I've searched a ton on these topics but info related to tuning is a crazy mess to sift through.

    Edited to add truck specs.

I’m guessing you have a manual 3rd gen, but it would be helpful if you post your exact truck (YEAR MODEL SUB-MODEL ENGINE TRANS - e.g. 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport V6 Manual)

If 3rd gen V6, and intake runner spacer has been show to shift the torque band to lower RPMs.
    Rev hang can be reduced/eliminated.
    Accelerator pedal can be remapped.

So yes to all of your questions.

Thanks for the info, added truck specs. I'll look into the intake spacer. For the tune then, I guess I just have to find a shop that will do OTT's tune?

Question for Tacoma drivers who had a different tune prior to getting the OTT installed:

Since you already experienced the effects of a tune, which most likely caused your throttle to be at least a little more sensitive than stock, did that throttle sensitivity knowledge affect the throttle setting you selected for the OTT?

I'm in that situation, so trying to select a "step-up" in throttle sensitivity from what I already experienced vs starting at the lowest setting and working my way up, if that's possible.

    Views/opinions are appreciated.

    Cheers

Mathematically thinking, it would be best to start off in the middle (assuming there are 3 options for this tune). At most, you'll only test drive two different options. However, starting from the bottom or top, you could end up testing all 3 before you're satisfied. Of course, this is not necessarily a problem unless you're short on time. Regardless, I think general consensus is to also start off in the middle and work forward or backwards from there.

I let customers test drive as many throttle variants as they want. There are 4 primary throttle choices with 3 less common options (1 low and 2 higher). These have been shown to cover pretty much any customer request. Most tuners don’t charge to reflash you later up or down on throttle. I’d advise you test whatever you are interested in.

My advice to customers here in northern Utah is choose a lighter throttle for daily driving/all-around as your ECT button can give you more at the push of a button when you want it. Touchy throttles suck in the snow, in traffic, in 4Lo, etc… the OTT tune has plenty of power and torque, so no need to add a touchy throttle. That’s my opinion on it. MOAR Throttle does not equal MOAR power. Most of my customers are in Lite/Mild and Mild/Med. Those that go higher come back after a snow storm to get it dialed down. If you don’t have snow and traffic, the higher throttle options may be great for you. Personal preference and typical driving situations will drive your preference.

I also have customers with heavily modified trucks that do a lot of serious off-roading and they actually run a higher throttle for daily driving, then have ECT engage a lower throttle choice for “crawl” mode when off-roading. Tons of options with OTT.

so if i tow 4000-4500 lbs half dozen times a yr. would i set up ECT for more throttle and have less for daily driving? or vice versa

I started out on the medium setting with the original tune in January and have driven it daily on that setting since. I knew it would take time to get comfortable with the new setting. However, I just can't get consistent with it, even after 3 months. My tuner had told me, in the beginning, it was not a big deal if I wanted to change the setting at a later date. And he was correct. He and I exchanged a couple of emails this week and I have an appointment this weekend to turn it down a notch.

I'm set up that way now. I need an update, and I believe they have a "tow" option for ECT, which bumps shift points, and locks out 6th(auto), and I don't know what else. But, when I update mine, it will be that way with mild on both...
