Man I should lol I pull engines and do full swaps on boats for a living so being a technician has its perks you could say hell took me 45 minutes to do the alternator on the truck too and takes me about 30 to do them in a boat I can't imagine how long it takes a dealership to do the jobs and the amount they charge is insane

Tomorrow I get off work at 12 and I'm going to burrels ford area. It's where the ga traverse starts on the east. I plan on hiking in to a couple waterfalls if any one wants to join. I should be there around 2.

On the weekend of April 22-23, I’m trying to get some people together to do rides at 5313 OHv in Calhoun, then driving up to Chattanooga to camp at Running Water Creek. Wake up and ride around Prentice Cooper (or if people really want to go to Coalmont OhV for some real challenges, a group could go that way)

holler at me if you are interested in any part of that trip!

Anyone got some suggestions of some n. georiga camping spots that aren't pay sites. Wife is looking for a place to take the kids car camping that's not too far away since we would be leaving after work friday. She doesn't want to go a state park or designated camp ground. Was going to go up to big frog area but it's too far away since were leaving so late friday.

Maybe the lesser know places too so it won't be crowded and we won't be able to find a spot. Thinking maybe off widing stair gap rd. I've been camping all over the area in the past but it's been so long i've forgotten where all to go.

    Thanks in advance!

Last few times I've been camping in Coopers Creek WMA off of Mulky Gap Rd just north of where the pay sites are/ past where Duncan Ridge Rd tees in. If you are by yourselves in the 4runner or Taco, you could cross the creek and go up Sea Creek Rd or Knight Creek and get a lot more secluded.

This sounds like just the ticket.

Gamble as in the creek crossing might be to high or the trails might be too muddy/ washed out.

I got 4wd, rear locker and a winch (none of which will help if the current is to strong and my truck gets swept away) but I didn't think that water crossing go too bad?

I'll be going up Trey Mountain this weekend. Theres a creek crossing. I did it a few months ago in a stock corolla in the rain. it was sketchy, but i made it in and out. a real off road vehicle should have zero issue with the crossing. I only went up to indian grave gap, as it started to get too sketchy for my rolla.

but im gonna go this weekend in my taco, shouldnt have any issue. the creek crossing is really shallow and they maintain the area around the crossing, especially this time of year with so many people on the AT. its free, and there are lots of places to pull of and camp, just bring some tarps, paracord, or something to get a fire going. will likely be hard to start a fire if the logs are wet, but if you can get one going, should be easy enough to dry off the wet stuff. I'm likely going to bring up an old pallet. just dont bring firewood or anything that might have critters in it.

I'm familiar with that creek crossing. I actually crossed it and was up in that area in Feb for a day hike to high shoals falls on Indian grave Gap. I think I camped there a few years ago to about a couple miles down the road from the falls. Nice area.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Picked up a new ADV bike. KTM 890r Adventure. This bike is where the sweet spot is by far! Brapppppp

I took the family out kayaking on lake jocassee this past weekend. It was pretty perfect weather on Saturday. It rained up there on Thursday and Friday so I was hoping for a little sloppy muddy trail but horse pasture road was pretty dry.

Such an awesome lake! Horsepower restricted. Did you go to the boat in camp? You can deep water solo on the wall there and bald eagles have been spotted around. Or over to the base of whitewater falls? There’s supposedly other falls that come down to the lake but I haven’t been there

    Hey people.
Trying to get more folks to tag along for any or all of this weekend:

trail rides at 5313 OHV in Calhoun Saturday morning into afternoon.
Then camping in Chattanooga at a property — Running Water Creek.
and some rides on Sunday morning before coming home.
5313 is $15 cash or Venmo. We will plan to meet at 9 and ride at 10 or so.
To camp at Running Water Creek, you have to book on Hipcamp.com
If you use the discount code “REI2023” it will only cost $8 and change.

the weather will be amazing for this weekend…

Yeah it's one of my favorite places I've ever been to. The different falls are pretty far from where we put the kayaks in snd with the kids I don't try to go that far. I do plan to bring my little jon boat and go check them out eventually. I have hiked to a couple of the falls but they are pretty good walks too. We didn't camp this trip but we have done that before.
