It should have been $3500 OTD. No way that bike is worth $4500.
I should have known better. I tried to buy a new Rally from them and they wanted $8700 OTD.

If I get a chance later after I get home I'll try to take some pics of it with measurements so you can check. From following the thread in the link I posted it looks like there's a newer version of mine now being offered. I know over on ADV Rider he offers sales on them and forum discounts from time to time. Can't recall what I paid as it's been a few years. Will say it's nice and compact, works very well, and has held up nicely.

Man, I wish I had that range! Maybe I should add some headlight protection, too!

Removed some stuff, added some stuff.
Been kicking around the idea of getting an xr650l…something I can ride to work (mostly freeway) but still be comfortable on the trails. Anyone have first hand experience with these bikes? The new 2023 I believe weighs in at 348lbs? But I’ve been seeing mods to trim some of the weight off. I’m looking for pros and cons.

How far is your commute? even the 650s aren’t the most fun for freeway use.

If you plan on the freeway I would look at something with a twin if possible, but if you did go with a thumper I'd look at the KLR 650. It would have better wind protection than the XR650L. A buddy recently got a KLR and he said it's fully capable of 90 MPH with a headwind if needed, so free way speeds are doable.

I replaced the 15t sprocket on my KLR with a 16t. It knocked off 500rpm at 70mph. It's great 60mph and below, but I have never found tires that I like on pavement.

    i have one

its an old heavy pig, but IMHO it blows the doors off both the dr650 and the klr650

its more reliable than both the suzuki and the kawasaki

its better off road than both the suzuki and the kawasaki

and its just as capable cruising on the highway as the suzuki and the kawasaki

if youre going to be on the highway, adding a simply windscreen makes a huge difference and its a cheap and easy part to source and install

the new one and the older ones are all the same, they literally are unchanged, and for a good reason, its simple and it works, does nothing great but can legit do anything you want

if you can, try and test ride one at the dealership and also try and test out a used one that has been uncorked, for the price point it is a quality old honda

there are a ton of reviews on youtube that go deep into the differences between the xr650l, the klr650 and the dr650 as well, but if you ask me the honda takes the win every time
