@Kwikvette here's some horrendous welding for you

This is how the exhaust manifold (exit port?) Came stock on the engineScreenshot_20230420-092200_Gallery.jpg

Well there's not enough room in the shroudwork for the muffler to hang down, so I had to cut it up and resend it.

    20230419_153637.jpg

    Making sure it's a square cut20230419_153625.jpg

Flipping it 180 and checking to make sure it's level with the engine20230420_073551.jpg

Welding cast iron is fucking rough :( preheated the shit out of both sides and the bead still came out stupid cold:bananadead:20230420_091929.jpg

But bossman is happy with it and said he couldn't do better so :notsure:

Refuse to watch the whole thing but why the fuck is everyone cheering? Usually it's a bad sign if something blows up on an inaugural flight

Last one I did just came in for a filter change. It's got 672hrs on it and isn't broken yet... although I was positive it would given the porosity :anonymous:

It was expected to blow up, it's the first of several experimental launches that are going to be part of the Artemis lunar mission. Largest rocket ever built, it was 50/50 expected to blow up on launch lol. So it was pretty successful that it got as far as it did

Depends on the job.. if they're hooking up a wall saw the thing will run for an 8hr day solid. If they handsaw with it they may only run it for an hr at a time

Looks like rats only got the two lines into throttle body from what I could see when I checked at lunch.
They could've at least picked more convenient lines to replace.
Might as well clean the TB while I'm at it since things will be apart.
It's stored at my parents house so working will be interesting. Poor thing is on gravel under a big oak that's dropped so much shit on it, it's crazy. Really wishing I had a garage right about now.

That's a good looking weld honestly, especially for cast.

I fucking hated cast and would do what I can to get a good preheat using oxyfuel.

    I miss oxyfuel...

    Like those outdoor heater/grill types?
