What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I have a question , can this piece in my engine bay be removed and will it allow better gas mileage or throttle response, it looks just like a big extra piece of wasted space. is there a specific part # of a straight tube to install in its place?

 

You can replace that intake tube, i picked up the mishimoto one from offroadusa, used code web10 for 10% off. Paid $157 shipped and it dropped shipped from turn14 distribution, came with in one day after i ordered lol. So far seem like i get better mpg

Ok guys I think we got it. He tried using a relay, diode but just ended up using a 10a fuse. He said he does have concerns if something happens to the battery pack it may do something to the trucks electronics. Always a learning experience.

that being said, he said I should probably buy a new truck battery. What do you guys recommend ?

Another bonus for removable (mine isn't) is that as technology rapidly improves, swapping out for a better efficiency panel in two years can greatly expand your system with little effort. Just throw in a same size better performing and you are done.

 

That seems worth it just for the space savings in that area. Any issues with the tube and a soon to be installed snorkel setup?

EDIT: My patience lost out to curiosity in about 5 minutes. Just ordered it to see if I like it.

Dashcam paid off last night.

Garmin Dashcam Mini 2. Caught this accident last night. Guy ran the light turning right and pulled right in front of the 1st Gen 5 lug. Everyone was ok but the kids 5 lug only had 80K miles on it and he was pretty heartbroken. Cops and the kid were pretty stoked I had video of it. Asshat in the Tesla that was the best witness of the accident bolted and drove through the whole accident scene (you can see them when I was trying to park to get out and assist).

I need to adjust my dashcam as I think it got bumped and is pointing a little high.

Ouch, rough night for the 1st Gen. For that camera, it's counterintuitive, but to max your field of view with the fish eye, you want to put those driving cars in almost the dead center horizontally. You will film quite a bit of your hood, but you will see more left to right, and are not really losing much by taking away some of the sky. I try to go down as far as I can get away with and still reliably see traffic signals.

 

That's usually how I have mine set up but I think it got bumped by my daughter who is learning to drive and probably hit it while adjusting the rearview mirror.

Yeah, he was trying to go around the Tesla from what I saw as well.

 

I think he meant the guy at fault that got hit turned right from the second lane over (which may be legal at this intersection) while blowing through the red light. Seems like you should have thrown on your hazards as you were pulling to the right to assist, after the accident.
