Speaking kinda on the same subject... to fix my steering rack that's way outta whack, is it easier for me to pull the steering wheel rotate it and put it back on. Or should pull the rack again, move the rag joint a couple splines and reinstall?

No, don't fix it like that, fix it at the rag joint or the splined portion of the rack.

Okay I'll do it that way thank you.

Is it possible to remove that ragjoint bolt and slide it up off the shaft to rotate it, without ing having to remove or loosen the rack itself?

Yeah that's what I've done in the past, sometimes you need to remove that pinch bolt and tap a little wedge in the pinch to get it to play along

    Awesome, thanks for the headsup

Without removing the boots is it possible to make sure the rack itself is centered? The alignment was so fucked on my way home last weekend I didn't really give it a test drive but backing out of the stall something felt like I didn't have as many steering wheel rotations in one direction compared to the other.

I didn't fuck with the rack, literally pulled it out of the toyota box, put on the rag joint, then bolted the two halves together. I don't have even stick out on my OTEs but I'm guessing thats cause I could not eyeball the alignment effectively

I forget how many turns it is from lock to lock, but it usually comes centered out of the box and has mark on it to show that it is.

Super popular, they're on the forum as well so you could see about getting a discount or is that discount tire?

    Either way tirerack is big.
