Agreed. I would purchase a FO bore scope camera that you can use with you phone, like I did, and check inside the frame next to the cat. Mine rusted out there. Got it welded and all good so far. The Tacoma has a terrible frame design.

amazing how clean the rest of the underbody is…jealous. Bought my truck with a replaced frame and it’s a constant battle to keep up with the rest of the truck!

Wow, 2015. Awesome Toyota is still replacing rusted frames as needed. I guess you live in the rust belt? Also no rust prevention applied? Curious where the main rust issue was on the frame that led Toyota to approve the replacement. My Truck is only 5 years older than yours. Don’t live the rust belt but plan to own it as long as possible. I still keep an eye on the frame tho.

 

Toyota took care of business. Brought the truck in for frame inspection (yes live in the heart of rust belt) and corrosion application at the dealer. Once inspected the tech found 2 perforations within the main frame. Two weeks later Toyota Corp approved the replacement. 1.5month later the frame came in. Even put me in a '23 Highlander XLE for 10 days while the truck was in service

JD fab double sheer heim steering kit welded and painted with steel it. Waiting for custom chromoly tie rods to be painted before I show final pic of my new steering

 

Not too bad so far. I started using Fluid Film 2 years ago. And of course I got the Toyota frame inspection and wax about 3 years ago, although I think that is a pretty pathetic CYA attempt.
