I was in the tire industry my whole life until 2020…years and years ago I met the director of Motorsport for Michelin at the time and asked him why Michelin never bid on the F1 contract when Pirelli took over. He told me just what that article said, something along the lines of “we make the best tires around and we’re not going to be told to make them a certain way, so we aren’t interested”

Good for Michelin. Mandating garbage tires for the sake of a show at what is supposedly the pinnacle of motorsport has always been a garbage idea. The exact opposite of what F1 is supposed to be.

Even when Michelin was the supplier of tires in F1 there were pit stops for new sets. Same for whatever brand was on the cars through the years. I liked it when multiple tire mfg's were competing in F1. Then you had the tire wars. IIRC in the 80's it was that way. Any race tire degrades WTH are they talking about? Its not a show its racing, like any other series.

I recall when pit stops were to be avoided because they were not efficient and yes racing could be very boring.

Make the teams forced to use all 3 tires (S,M,H) or maybe force 2 stop race regardless. Red Flags don't count as pit stop

Red flag rule is the stupidest rule they have. Shouldn’t be allowed to touch the car at all.

Allowing teams to replace potentially damaged tires to the same compound should be allowed for safety due to debris from accident. If red flag incident had no debris, no tire change allowed.

If other work is needed to replace parts, this can only be done from pit box and car then starts from pit lane and not from standing or rolling start.

Agree, I don't mind the red flag rule as it now stands. It is one of those issues that will always affect someone no matter the decision. Do you make someone who lost a wing driving through an unavoidable debris field take an extra pit stop?

Could they reestablish deltas based on the last timing before the incident. Coordinating that many car's deltas would be heading cats.

Red flag rule stays the same (due to possible damage) but does not count as a pit stop, so the required 2 pit stops (in my previous scenario) still stays the same.

So for RUS last race he already made his stop, but all the others are still required to stop again before the end of the race

My only issue is the yellow flag pit stops that turn into red flags and the ones that put under the yellow get totally screwed and lose positions for nothing.
Maybe they should allow people to go back to the original positions if it turns into a red flag? Maybe not. Idk. They’re not particular rule that will make everyone happy.

I think they should allow refueling, choice of any tire by any manufacturer, and as many tires as the team wants. Might result in more pit stops.

Close the pits when a yellow comes out. Not a popular opinion but yeah, guessing if the course is going to go red or not isn't fun nor part of any strategy.

I think in F2 any pit stop/tire change made during a flag does not count towards the mandatory pit, that would work well in F1.

that makes sense , there's a hazard on the track and cars may have run over debris , lets force them to stay out
