If they’re doing it in an EV they aren’t using the brakes like that because you don’t need to with regen.

I was talking about individual incentives. Just found that article and thought you'd like to see it. But VW is getting serious. Tesla should be worried about VW and BYD. They are both investing heavily and quickly this past year.

I think the ones that should be worried are the traditional car makers. Every EV that is sold is an ICE car that isn't. VW isn't taking away from Tesla as much as they're taking away from Chrysler, Toyota and every other maker without an EV or two in their line up.

Well I didn't mean they are taking away from Tesla now but their investments in EV will be impactful in just a few years. VW has established worldwide manufacturing easily re-tooled while Tesla has to build plants.

Saw something about this the other day. The car also has the old graphics which made me wonder how recent the testing was, the testing has been on going and the publicity is more recent. EV or not I doubt the design of the Mustang Mach-E is a good one for PD duty but it might be better than a Fusion. The Ford Lightning might not be the better alternative for urban patrols which is the only other option for an electric cruiser, when EV is a must for any agency. Their highway patrol unit will probably stick with the Charger until Dodge drops them completely, then they will probably go back to Tahoes. No replacement for displacement.

Just taking their tech and in a few years a 60kwh battery can go 700 miles and charge in 5 minutes would be a game changer. There was a company I posted on here about that was able to charge current EV batteries in such an efficient way it was 5-8 minutes charge 10 to 80-90%. That process is being tested by all major EV makers currently. The tech in EV's will change faster than anyone thinks. In less than 5 years.

I think the big question is how much will the current batteries and charging infrastructure need to change to keep up. Like will current adopters cars and home chargers be obsolete 3 years from now? That’s the major thing preventing me from making the jump.

Well current US home electric systems are typically limited to about 240v/50amp on a single double pole circuit. Same as a home electric dryer so charging would be. That's been working fine for now. I doubt that will change anytime soon.

For home charging that is unlikely to happen. You can still use a charger from 10 years ago to charge an EV delivered today.
