I've searched with the search function on this forum, as well as google, and both have come up with many aftermarket options. Looking for OEM.

is going to a pull-apart my best option?

You can try salvage yards, or order one from Toyota. Both options are going to cost ya, plus paint anywhere $1k-2k.

Check out Offer up. I got super lucky on there. Took me 4 months to find one and found a oem sport same color as my truck and at a steal of a price.

I just bought one from Toyota. I’m lucky that I have a cousin I swap labor with who paints, but I did get quotes to get it painted around Denver. A few places quoted as high as $1600, but I don’t think they understood what I wanted, and included mounting the hood and blending it in, which also entailed removing the fender flares, which my SR doesn’t have. So I think they just looked up a sport and ran the numbers on a replacement hood. The more reasonable quotes went from $350 up to $750, with $500 being about the average. The hood itself was around $500 with everything needed to do it. It’s all OEM, though I did get the scoop itself off eBay. Came with the plastic parts and gaskets and stuff for about $120 less than it would have cost at the dealership.

Sometimes you find someone willing to trade plus cash nearby but usually it takes quite a while. A new scooped hood plus paint will probably run $1200 from the dealer (maybe more) and then you got to dispose of your old hood. If you find someone willing to trade be prepared to also pay them 500-700.

Pull apart is a good option if you can find one in your color.

    Fastest way: throw down cash
Cheapest way: find someone here that’ll trade plus cash

I personally was looking for one for three months until I found a TRD pro owner that sold me his hood, rims and suspension in a bundle deal. Hoods have to be shipped ltl. If you go that route I saved money by using Fastnel. FedEx and other carriers wanted double-triple of what Fastnel charged me.

    Thanks.

I was pretty much indifferent until I road in some non-Skewp Tacos. The cleaner view forward got to me.

I actually like my flat hood better than my scooped hood. Had both, liked the AA cup hood.

The way I look at it is that the Taco comes with or without scoop depending on what Model YOU chose so live with it and quit whinning about it. Some hate them some love them to each their own. I love my panties dropper..just saying.

Also worked for me to get rid of mine. Met up with another member and swapped hoods in his driveway in about 30 minutes.
Expect to trade hoods, add about $500, and travel to wherever the member lives.

Nah, that's the beauty of Tacoma's and TW. You can easily mix and match with other members to get what you prefer!

Hahaha! Well, mine was a little different.

I'm in WA. @shaggy135 , in AZ, suggested a swap. We finally made it happen while I was on a camping / Vegas trip. We did it in the Venetian parking garage. Even trade, esp as he came 4hr (I think) north. We've chatted a few times since and are thrilled with the end results.

The long drive home was proof that going Skewp-less was right for me.
