Maybe this has been said but if you go to Toyota USA and spec out a pro tacoma and go to accessories there is a bunch of arb options.

Land Cruiser 300 photochopped. I like that better than the Sequoia and Tundra styling. Still a rather large grill, but a hell of a lot less machismo trying too hard chest thumping.

I’m not a fan of these giant grilles on everything. I hope that fad goes away soon.

What was old is new again…Toyota wasn’t the first at the large mouth Bass grill.

Me personally prefer the 70 series, basic, simple styling, cabin windows that you can actually see out of, very little blind spots, no machismo chest puffing…but all business underneath. The Tacoma is kind of the opposite, looks tough, but weak under the sheet metal.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks the giant grills look horrible. Someone must like them because everyone is doing it. I was guessing it was for guys who used to drive minivans to the mall. Now they can drive their truck with a massive grill and feel like they're a tough guy.
Lexus grills are the worst and I hate seeing Toyota drift in that direction.

Think it is the kids who had Transformers growing up, and now can afford to buy trucks. Almost everything has a Japanese robot face now.

    Yes!!!

it is! didn’t buy my 3rd Gen for its looks, bought it for its grand illusion of reliability, poor mpgs, dismal payload, multiple personality trans, and no low end torque. :D

Was originally going to get a F150, but they were 6-8 months out at the time. Think it looks better and like the in cab rear seat storage, it is much more practical than Toyota. I carry a lot of totes and gear bags for dirt biking/camping.

Probably could have waited, the Ford salesman said he had a well built Lexus GX 460, we started talking Toyotas…and he lost a sale. I was literally getting to write a check, however after owning them for 30+ years, quite hard to stray even if there are few things that drives me nuts about them. And to keep this 4G related, by all the rumors and teaser shots, looks like Toyota is FINALLY fixing all the flaws. Probably still be butt ugly though. :p

Tremor is a sweet package. Buddy has a 350 with the HO diesel. Thing is an animal and still gets low 20s cruising.

It is. Unfortunate they don’t offer it in the Space Cab configuration, no real need for a crew, just need the extra room for gear. Like Ford that you can pick your diff gear ratios, and if you want locking diff, all a la carte. Could get the base XL, and add just a few upgrades, without getting a bunch of fluff I don’t need or will use.

Don’t care for how Toyota specs their trims. Really wanted a manual trans, didn’t want to pay an extra $5K to get it in the Sport ACLB. The SR has plenty of options for me other than the lame auto.

Good sign that even Lexus now agrees with you. Hopefully we see Toyota/Lexus evolve from trophy bass Tundra to more of a walleye..

    • There's a new Job #1 date out there of September 1, 2023.

    • I do know, from July 2019 to June 2021, the 920B Tacoma Job 1 date was early August 2023, for late September 2023 first deliveries (go date).

    • Around August 2021. 920B then got delayed 4 months to December 2023 production start.
      • This was the second internal delay, since development began. Previously, it was MY 2023 for 7/1/22; Aug 2022 release.

    • Back in November, I saw a new date of November 1, 2023 SOP.
      • That meant as early as December 2023 showroom intro up to January 2024.

    • September 1, 2023, if true, means mid-late October to November 2023 on-sale date.
      • This is only important, to people who are interested in leasing or buying for MY 2024.
For those curious about powertrain details, I again really, really suggest you follow @ CygnusX191 's posts. He might be right, about the numbers for TRD Pro, being 326 hp, 465 lb-ft. I'm not gonna link him directly, but look up his posts. Signing out, headed to a funeral down in Texas and won't be posting until maybe next Tuesday.

Why is this even being posted at this point? It's really obvious it's not even real nor relevant, when Toyota has been very transparent.
We've known what this truck looked like since 2021...
    Toyota-Electric-Truck-3.jpg Toyota-Electric-Truck-4.jpg

Somewhat, but I'm not commenting on that publicly, sorry. I've learned my lesson and will just wait for press releases from Toyota Pressroom going forward. There are a few folks I can thank for that of course...

If I remember right, when I had left my previous job in November, 920b SOP was scheduled for December. But we had little to do with that at our plant so I can't remember exactly. Very well could have changed by now.

I thought the bigger grilles were for improved cooling.

Yes and no. Can get the proper cooling without have a massive grill. They are mostly showboating for suburban dads in bedazzled jeans flexing at Lowe’s. :D

Land Cruiser 70 has a turbo diesel V8 with an intercooler. No large grill, those aren’t terribly fast either, meant for going slow and generally way overloaded on unimproved dirt roads of 3rd World countries.

Had a chance to ride in one, damn shame we can’t get them here. I like basic no nonsense utilitarian work horses. Would never be successful in the American market since most people want bloated luxo freeway flyers.

    look! a functional hood scoop!

Not to get off topic, but thats exactly what the INEOS Grenadier is, a utilitarian workhorse. Drove one yesterday and it reminded me of the 70 series/old Defender mix.
