Did they change the OEM tires?

Or were they just redesigned? I’m talking about the TRD OR’s and Pros specifically. My 2020 has the GoodYear Wrangler with Kevlar’s. Now the trucks have GoodYear Territory AT? The tread pattern is identical. The sidewall looks more aggressive. Are these completely different tires or did GoodYear just redesign them? They look much better now if the latter is the case.

“Probably” the same tire. Changing the shapes and designs in a tires sidewall is fairly easy and inexpensive (comparatively) for the tire manufacturers. Changing the tread, rubber compounds, and construction is much more difficult. If I were a betting man, I’d put $5 on it just being a marketing ploy. Nothing changed but appearances.

I think you’re right. That’s what it appears like to me. The identical tread pattern is what gives it away. Either way, the new redesign looks much better IMO. It’s noticeably more aggressive looking. Does it really matter? No… but I wish my truck got the new ones instead.

I noticed the same thing, between my ‘18 and ‘22. I agree with you, the new ones look a lot better.

My brother just got a 2023 Lunar Rock OR. When walking around his truck, I saw the tires and thought “what the hell is this”? That marketing ploy will probably pay off well because the timid looks were a turn-off on that specific tire. Now they actually look pretty good and they ride damn good on the street too.

Timid looks and timid off road performance. I was incredibly disappointed by the durability of the stock wranglers. They're garbage in loose gravel/sand, even aired down. Blew two in a parking lot on a 4in deep pot hole going maybe 12mph. Kevlar my keaster.
Have General Grabbers with 50k miles and just showing signs of wear. Will easily last to 75k. I drive on the beach weekly and don't even have to air down with them.

You mean re-tag the same product to trick people into buying a new one when it is not really needed!?! Heaven save us from these new-fangled marketing schemes!

Stock Wranglers get a lot of hate, but they are a pretty good generalist tire for what they are.

They new ones are identical, but with some decoration on the sidewall.

No way in hell I would take off perfectly good tires and replace them with something nearly identical. I was just thinking in the future when the original rubbers are worn out.

Luckily for me, off-road use is nearly nonexistent. We don’t get snow in South Carolina either so it’s very mild tires for me. I’m fine with them for that general purpose.

I agree with that. I’m not a hard core, Moab off-roader, that’s for sure. However, I do get into some snow, some gravel & dirt roads, and “back up in the holler” once in a while, and I don’t have any issues with these tires. Not sure that I’ll buy them as replacements when they’re worn out either. I’ve seen better prices for better tires. For OEM, there certainly could’ve been worse choices made.

They work alright for the muddy clay we get down here in the Gulf Coast. If I needed a new set today I'd be OK with getting another set considering the majority of my driving is on pavement.

I respectfully disagree. I've had multiple vehicles and company fleet vehicles with Goodyear tires, and all have been junk. Uneven wear, cupping, just a junk tire IMO.

You bet there were worse choices made. The shitty ass Toyo Open Country A31 on the SR5, even ion the 4wd models. Wet, dry, gravel, it all sucks. Mine have a whole 6283 miles are down to 5/32 have a mind of their own on the road. Worst tires I have ever seen in my life. Gladly give them up for the wranglers everyone bitches about all the time. Be happy you don’t have these f’ing things.

We have a fleet of 10 F150s that all came with these tires and they have been excellent. No problems.

I was just going to say F-150 gets the Territory ATs on most trims on the 18" wheels 17" steelies might as well.

The Ram 1500 Classic if you opt for the ATs in 17" are Yokohama Geolander go15 I belive, not as fancy of a side wall, but the visible tread blocks from the side look pretty good. I think those are the best looking stock tires that you can get in a pick up. The General Grabbers on the F-150 and Ranger Tremor look pretty good too, of course thats a offroad package, not just a tire option.

I believe all the fullsize trucks are running E rated ATs from the factory which usually have a deeper tread design.

TRD Pros really should get KO2s with white letters out. I'm serious, because the BFGs look good on Toyotas. I'm also joking because bro status.

The wranglers on our F150s are the older 2018 tires. They are C-rated on our trucks.

I can't recall if the 23s with the 18" Territory ATs are the newer style with the more exaggerated sidewall. I think they are those could also be C rated. My 21 came with some kind of General Grabbers I thought they were E rated, they could very well be C rated I looked before but can't recall. 22s started getting the Territories some 21s might have had them, I can't recall if they have been the same style or not. I think they look like tmwhat GY has on their website.

Are your work trucks on 18"? The 17"s might have very well been Michelins now that I think about it.

The Tacoma might be the only truck with the new style Territories.

On our F150s they are the Wrangler AT Kevlars. OEM tires: LT275/65/18 C-Rated
