I pray this doesn’t some how summon bad mojo, but I bought my 22 AC to go the distance. I’ve been building it with the intention of keeping it long term.

I wish Toyota would put out a Tacoma in Olive Drab, no gloss or clearcoat or anything shiny. I'd snag one and paint 4077 on the roof.

I'd snag a flat OD Tacoma in a heartbeat.
It would go great with our "OD" (I only use quotes as the wrap on our trailer is a bit light for OD even though thats what trailer manu said it was)

We went to Right Toyota and they wanted $20,000 over sticker on Tundras, as well as the GR they had on the floor (which was black and had been scrubbed to swirl mark hell by some idiot). Screw them. I listened to their sleazeball manager tell some couple that base model Camrys have $7500 markups because “that’s what the demand is, and you can’t do better.”

Yup. Trucks are for hauling stuff and getting off road. Sometimes even hauling while off-roading….

Just having a cute truck to ride around in? Might as well get a PT Cruiser or a Beetle.

This is only the beginning of the recession, and not officially declared. Car dealerships closing their doors. Dealerships have been changing hands smaller ones being bought out by larger organizations, and national chains not that is anything new, but there has been more of that in the past few years. Tech companies eliminating positions they most likely never needed to begin with. Technology sector jobs will always be replaced with AI technology. Trucking companies going out of business. Those are probably difficult to keep running anyhow as conditions are fluid and dependent on the economy, and the peak of 20/21 is over. Banking sector is probably laying people off, if the bank goes under they don't need people or won't be paying them.

Over paying for a Toyota is like going into McDonald's and paying a market adjustment on a BigMac because there's a demand for BigMac's and they are low on special sauce.

Mark up on a Camry? You could probably get a Lexus ES for close to the same price, but after that BS. I wouldn't want to give Toyota my money at all, even though it's the dealership and not Toyota. I don't really shop based on so called principles. Or I'd go buy a Honda Accord, might even go buy a Nissan Altima.

I wouldn't buy a Toyota now, especially here in FL where you have to deal with the SE Toyota Mafia. Talking to a Toyota dealership sales department is an insult these days.

The only thing I'd buy today would be a fullsize domestic at least it looks like I'm getting a deal. Money off and a reasonable rate, and I don't want a sedan.

Of course the Camry is nice, I like the subdued styling of the Accord, the Altima don't look bad might not be the best in quality and have as high a resale value, but I should be paying less up front.

What's left in the Segment Chevy Malibu? Subaru Legacy? Audi? VW? BMW? The Germans get a little pricer the higher up you go. Then there's team EV which climb in price as well, and I like Polestar if I'm going electric. There's Volvo and Hyundai. I like Volvo, Hyundais aren't bad but have been a shit show latey with tictoc and the forth coming class actions on the way. Amazing!

    I've gotten off track

    Toyota
    Honda
    Nissan

Are the epitome of moderately priced sedans Nissan has usually been the more affordable option.

Bought mine last November with all warranties and the plan is to keep it minimum 10 years. So far so good! I came from a 2002 Subaru forester with 245k I’ll never wear this truck out the way that used Subaru was.

Volvo makes nice cars. I had the non plug in S60 T6 R design. Supercharger and turbocharger 310+ hp. The plug in gives you 430hp+ & 40 mile electric range. Under appreciated rides for sure.

Smart, these Tacomas are propped up right now. I see the market dropping pretty significantly on these going forward.

50k+ for a tacoma, even a pro is a joke.

Yup agree with rates where they are a 50k Tacoma 2 years ago is equivalent to a 60k Tacoma. When you get in that area people want more luxury and bells and whistles like in a tundra. I’ve owned now close to 60 cars over the years I don’t have kids, boat or golf so this is where I spend my extra play money but now I’m older 59 rather have a 73 Brewster green trans am thats my next toy :)

I think you bought the right truck. The OP never bought that tacoma for the long haul. There are a lot of people that have been doing the flip a vehicle thing the last few yrs due to all the bullshit going on ie (shortages) to make a profit.
Right on! Life is way too short! Damn! And here I thought I was bad with owning 21 with 22 around the corner.
