    morning DE! after FOMO of yesterday i think we should really start to plan a meet for DE/ surrounding area soon! before the weather gets too hot, and right now is a good time of year for that i assume. anyone got any ideas?

    I'll put my thinking cap on for a Delaware Meet with an eatery place in mind...Philly has Cheese Steaks...Delaware has...seafood? lol

    It should be some place really simple where you can order to go and sit on the tailgate and chow down!

    With a decent parking lot.

    I need to get my Delaware Recreational License to drive onto the beach.

    Cape Henlopen is a large area.

    That may limit the amount of participation...or not.

    I was thinking Harbeson, where Dewey Beer Co has their second brewery--they have food trucks.

    or if we’re going up north, in Delaware City there’s a Crabby Dicks restaurant right by the water looking out over fort delaware. decent parking lot in the back and it’s really scenic there, just a suggestion:notsure:upload_2023-4-23_10-50-22.jpg

    I'm down for Delaware City "Crabby Dicks" by the water!

    I've been talking to my wife about visiting there...can you believe we've never been since we got to Delaware in 2006?

    There's some places of interest to visit there too!

    EDIT: Wife just suggested The Riverwalk in Wilmington.

    I think the Recreational Fishing License is separate from a vehicle beach pass in DE. You’re allowed only so far from your vehicle with the vehicle beach pass. Beyond that distance you need a separate license

    pretty sure either way you have to have a surf fishing pole in the water to park on the beach

    Absolutely but you have to remain within a certain distance of your vehicle unless you have a recreational license, I’m fairly certain

    I watched the video and looked on their site. They don’t precisely address our issue. They do mention that the vehicle pass is a license for the owner of vehicle, other anglers in the vehicle need their own license. They don’t mention the need to stay with the vehicle when fishing nor if the vehicle pass is an all encompassing license, on the beach or not.

    I'm retired military and can get into State Parks without paying a fee. (OEF/OIF Medal decorations are on my DD214)

    I'll still need a Surf Fishing Permit to drive on the beach.

    I have a cheap “surf” rod from Walmart.

    If it’s a planned beach/surf fishing trip we can check out the stripped bass migration maps and open season to plan around.

    Nope, though I have trouble commuting to anything when it comes to weekends even when I have things planned and on the calendar. Wife and kids schedule overruns my own plans.

    I’m also ‘out of state’ so some of the regs are different for me. I do know I have to purchase a separate license for fishing saltwater in general for DE. I know when I kayak fish, the beach permit means nada…
