I wanted a manual bad, I drive an S5 manual, and it's the last of its kind but the wife refuses to learn so I settled for the automatic and it's been fine. At least she'll drive me around when I've had one too many :)

If I was still single and 10 years younger, it would be the manual without any doubt.

Thanks everyone....ya I'll be 45 in a couple weeks so I guess I'll just keep it. We can see how the 4th get turns out and maybe I can save enough to buy one and keep this in the few years.

The only one I want is an orange Pro manual.

Like the OP I only drove manuals, but needing a larger family vehicle I was out of one for over 10 years when I got rid of my fun cars. Fortunately I always have motorcycles to scratch that shifting itch.

Got back into the Tacoma with the 6MT and couldn't be happier. Roadtrips, commuting, traffic, playing in the mud, all fun. It's not at all sporty but I do appreciate the involvement with the drive.

I wonder if you can still order one.

I came from a 3/4 ton Chevy that I was sick of, way too big and way too hard on gas. It had the 6.0 gas motor, reliable as all get out but pretty under powered for a big 3/4 ton truck. I'm 52 and I opted for the manual, I can't even put into words how much better it is to drive around. It's uncanny how it shifts when I want it to! lol! Better acceleration, nimble and can park at Walmart without taking up a spot and a half. I hated the way the past few automatic vehicles I've owned shifted, always trying to be in top gear, then to pass they have to jump down a couple three gears to get up and go!. No ragrets here, love it!

Start calling dealers to see if they can get an allocation for one. It's prob going to be tough since from some indications the manuals are quickly winding down on the 2023's.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
After multiple manuals I transitioned to an auto 2+ years again. While there are times that I miss the manual or sometimes pick up my left foot for the clutch, it's been fine. Once the trans & I got used to each other it has been okay. But then, I knew what to expect after listening to all of the TW whiners. Once you understand why the auto behaves as it does (trying to stay within the tighter power band of the 3.5V6), you adjust your driving appropriately.

MT is the only way for a taco... no question.
(Regardless of how good or bad the auto may be... - that question is really irrelevant.)

But tough decision. Your taco should last a while... for a 2016 Id be tempted to get a manual 23...

Ill be good with my '21... I was not tempted (- In my opinion, I have the best taco anyway! :D)

One of our cars is already an EV.

Will keep my manual until there is a good off-road Ev Option.

Electric is so good, then I wont be so fussed about going down to 1 pedal and no stick at all!
    :p

They were not easy to find with a manual @ MSRP in 2022 either, I waited 5 months for my allocation to come in.

    @bulldog

If you want one get one if you still can. Tacoma's are fun trucks to drive and with the 6 speed they are even more fun. Get one while you can.
