2.5" AAL

Such thing? Waiting on a shipping rate from wheelers for a Dakar leaf pack, but may be an arm and leg to Hawaii..

Have the 2" toytec in there right now. After the 884 install, a couple of things are going through my head..

1. Timbrens, so there is less sag after 1" if I have a heavy load
2. 2.25" or 2.5" AAL (if there is any such thing as such) + Timbrens
3. Dakar Leaf pack.

 

skyjacker and procomp make a 2.5" aal

 

Any reviews on any of them? Was starting to wonder when absolutely no one replied...

 

I have Procomp aal. Installed today. I like them so far.

 

Can you expand on this? I'm thinking of 884s + bilstiens + a 2" AAL. Are you unhappy with your rear suspension? Do you have aftermarket shocks on there now? Thanks.

 

Love my current setup. Which is 5100s all around, 884s, and 2" aal in the rear. Look for NLF's pics. Yes he has the tsb and aal, but the look would be very similar. I have a snugtop camper on 24/7, so my rear is already weighted down at least one inch...if not just a little more. Currently I sit about an inch higher in the rear, but as close to level as I would want to get without a load.

I called timbrens and explained my situation. Because the timbrens should be installed with a 1" gap with the bed empty, they recommended that I should set mine up with the timbrens close to touching the frame with the camper on.

I put a type of seal between the camper and the bed (on the rail closest to the cab of tg truck) to seal out water. Hence, would need to redo if I wanted to take my shell off just to measure the gap between the frame and the leaf pack without the shell on. Instead, currently, I have 7" between the leaf pack and the shell. The timbrens will be set to 7" so that when I have anymore load, they contact right away.

If my ride is crappy, I will remove the shell to re-measure the distance, as ride may be less affected with the timbrens at 7.5" rather than 7". At 7" the timbrens will be barely touching. At 7.5, they will be touching all the time.

If I go to a 2.5" aal, my rear should lift up an additional .5" so would have less sag right off the bat when a load is in the truck.

 

Proomp 2.5? Did they me with the squeak pads or just metal to metal?

 

if you want to know if they come with squek pads, no. But i wrapped the ends with teflon tape nice and thick and put the military wraps on the ends to hold in place, no squeeks for me
