All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
When it comes to quads those Yamahas are hard to beat. I got a Kodiak 700eps and a Wolverine Rmax1000. Both are crazy stout. May not have the power my old can-am had, but the reliability and its transmission are impossible to beat. Hondas are tried and true in the ATV department, but Yamaha has the edge in the sport market.

It's super hit and miss for me. Sometime it'll play once on the forum, and other times it automatically links me to insta and wants a sign in. :notsure:

Took the Grom on a parts run to Home Depot. It has been on a battery tender over the winter and it fired right up. Went to start it in the Home Depot parking lot and it was dead :annoyed: bump started it and made it home with the dash cutting out randomly. Guess it’s time for a new battery. OEM battery lasted almost 5 years.

Pardon my noob question: Is that a good run for a bike battery?

5yrs for any lead/sla/agm battery is a FANTASTIC life.

@w.adventures what battery you going to go with? I have a cheapie WEIZE battery in my grom thats been there for only 1.5 yrs and I can tell its already loosing its ability to crank (which is already marginal with the stock starter with higher compression and more cc's). I thought about splurging and getting the NOCO for it @ 80$ as i have been SUPER happy with the big boi noco i got for the tenere.

I can’t add. It’s a 4 year old battery. Which is still great.
I was just looking at that noco battery for $80. It’s tempting.

I just put one in last week, so far so good. Shaved probably 2 or 3lbs, too. The battery terminals are a bit wonky, but they're meant to be adjustable/removeable and you can remove the big binding post style and just use the bottom screw point.

Rode to Philly yesterday for the TW cheese steak met up. Stopped to photograph a bunch of murals on the way out and back. Knew rain was in the forecast but made it most of the day before it finally caught me in Reading, PA about one hour from home. A few pics.

Last mural before the rain started coming down hard. One hour from here to home.

Spent today changing fork seals and upgrading to heavier fork springs with help from a friend of mine. Got a ride in his Aston Martin V-8 Vantage.

    Good weekend!

It's great riding bike. Sounds really good too. Think I I'm going to do some bar risers on it maybe 1".

As a shaft drive yamaha owner who puts actual miles on his bike.... (unlike me). Anything of note on the final drive / rear u joint in your miles of riding? What rear gear oil do yo use?

Those final drives are near bulletproof unlike the BMW units. The only things I do maintenance wise is that each time I change a rear tire I pull the final drive and apply moly paste to the driveshaft splines and to change final drive oil every 10k. Yamaha offers a special oil for the FJR, Super Tenere, and some other models with shaft drive and it's crazy expensive, around $40/quart. Mobil 1 full synthetic gear oil in 75/90 meets the same specs for half or less than the Yamaha stuff. I've been running the Mobil 1 for years and this is my second FJR. There is a FJR owner over on the FJR forums in Ohio with over 450k on his bike. I've met him and it's legit. Bike looks like it has 450k but it's mechanically sound and still being ridden.

Those 1290s are beasts. Just was way out of my price range.

I picked mine up with 3k miles for 11k…sold it for 8500….I am an idiot.

I go thru bikes like water…I really need to keep onto them for awhile. I like to experience a lot of different things and don’t get attached to things anymore. However, I should have kept that street fighter…after getting in that last wreck I focused on the dirt for awhile.
