Just got a 2023 Trail Edition. Would like to install LED headlights, but after searching youtube videos and googling, it is not clear if it will be plug and play, or do I need an adapter / additional connectors. All the videos show the Off Road or TRD Pro trims (which already have LED connectors).

Has anyone done this mod with a 2023 Trail Edition?

    Thank you.

The trail edition is in the SR5 family? Does it have the "L" shaped LED daytime running lights?

It is, but when I look at the headlights, I do not see any LED lights (even when the lights are tuned on).

That is why I am a little confused.

Yeah, if it’s an SR5, it won’t have any LEDs in the headlights. I make a harness that will allow you to run the OEM headlights. @daveeasa on here was selling them, but we are on a pause for right now until we can verify what was causing an issue. We (at least, I) are pretty certain we know the cause. But anyway, hopefully I’ll start churning them out again soon. The reason it isn’t simple with the SR5 is that your DRL and turn signals use the same bulb and wire, so I have to do some trickery to separate the two.

    Thanks for the information.

One final question, in case I cant install LED lights, I was looking at this headlight from Extreme Terrain:
Link: Tacoma Plank Style Projector Headlights; Black Housing; Clear Lens (16-23 Tacoma w/ Factory Halogen DRL) - Free Shipping (extremeterrain.com)

    Is this a good option?

Thank again for all the info.

Those will fit your truck, yes. Are they a good? Unfortunately, probably not. There is a thread on here from the user @crashnburn80 all about headlights. It is super informative. I’m sure someone will link to it. But the vast majority of aftermarket lights kind of suck is what it boils down to.

    Edit: that’s the link :)

My advice to all SR and SR5 owners is to stuff Philips H9 into the low beams and hold tight. Johnny and I will iterate. I am not happy with what we have done so far, it requires a level of understanding from each owner which takes excessive education to achieve.

Do you guys have a link, or a list of harnesses you have available? Do you make custom harnesses?
