A few minor things on a background check isn’t always a bad thing. It proves you’re willing to do a few things other folks won’t The more options you have to complete the job, the better the chances the job gets done.

Depends on the minor things. Some things that are minor to you can be a huge red flag to others.

The definition of minor can change depending on the circumstances as well.

I am however surprised that such an event DQ’d you. Given your checkered past (common for Sailors), owning up to your drunken stupidity could have gotten you past the background check.

 

Like he said, 3-5 years later when someone doesn’t like you anymore, they have a reason to fire you.

I’ve literally had a police officer tell me not to tell them anything other than what they needed to know. Once I told said “the wrong thing”, the had do “something about it”. I’ve been serious the whole time I said, “I don’t know anything about it”.

If I don’t know anything about it, and you don’t know anything about (because I didn’t tell you), then how can anything be done about it?
