    Actually calling an audible and using a day off PTO and bothering a friends for their vehicle….. going to make sure it’s done right.

    Now I’m just REALLY hoping one of the local Toyota stealerships have a bottle of the 1281 in stock. I would imagine they would? :fingerscrossed:

    FYI
    Its $4.00 bucks for a cork pan gasket and they seal just as well as formed in place gaskets .
    Next time you pop the pan off with a cork gasket , you wont be spending an hour scraping the silicone off
    Thats how I roll . :)
    If you want to get spendy $$ , you can purchase a Farpark gasket . They are re-usable but run around $12 bucks

    That’s actually great to know! I like the idea of not having to deal with any FIPG again! Looks like my local auto parts store has some of the Felpro available. Do you think this would be sufficient?

    The gasket you pointed at is a one time use gasket . Farpark gaskets have a steel ring around each pan bolt .
    As unfortunate as it may be , things are a little more expensive for you guys
    I use a transmission parts supplier for all my transmission parts and purchase 20 of them at a time

    It is what it is. I’m just grateful I don’t have a wife or any kids that would impede my tinkering or wallet!

    Good to know that it’s a one time use. Still better than getting that f*****g silicone off! The Dremel cone wire brush came in clutch though for that process.

    In a pinch, copper bore brushes work really well but you have to be careful as the potential for FIPG nasties to go flying everywhere exists - in other words, lower RPM and not full blast go. Used them on the transfer case when I had to split it apart. Made short work of FIPG clean-up. They are cheaply made so expect a one project use out of them.

    Well I ordered the torque converter from toyotapartsdeal.com and just got the email letting me know they had it listed for sale, but it is permanently unavailable. Maybe there really aren't any left in the USA.....

    Part number is : 32000-35210

    Just in case anyone has a spare rolling around :rofl:
