I don't think he's worried about that he's always packing heat. Lol he has a concealed carry permit. He doesn't leave home with out it.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I wouldn’t say I would let the 890 go for the 690. While they are similar in size they drive completely different. In both feel and power. They actually feel similar picking them up when they are flopped. Mine had the rally raid tanks and such, so it was a heavy fucker.
That single motor lugs like a tractor…and I find it when set up with bar risers to be very comfy standing up. Getting huge pegs is a must though, like most adv bikes. 690/701 is very stable.
If y’all wanna meet up and swap bikes I am down for that. I got no problem letting a seasoned rider take my rides out.
    I got the 250xcw, 500exc, 890r, and looking hard at the 690/701.
I also am looking at the Beta500rrs. If you haven’t checked that out you should. It’s very similar to the KTM500 as mine is built, but the Beta comes from factory a bit more lively than the KTM.
The 500 platform is probably my fav bike right now. Has the power to get it, and I can almost throw it around like the 2smoke ;)

I guarantee your skill set on the bike would be thru the roof.
I will take some pics of my ride later today in my backyard. Middle of the Pisgah, I got some routes up here that are choice if anyone is over my way. I have routes for days that will leave you with a grin on your face.
I am picking up 390 ADV from a guy this week, to give classes on dual sporting. If you guys have some friends wanting to try it out, bring them my way.

Neat little bike. Super fun if you haven’t gotten on one. I mean I swamp the thing, and treat it kinda like a pit bike. But definitely good for beginners, or someone who has a shorter inseam.

This one should have spoke wheels.

Nice and yeah very easy bike to maneuver around, feels light and well balanced. A little vibey through the grips but cruises at 80mph no problem on the 17s/street tires.

Finding them in stock can be tricky... the dealer near me said they only get a small allotment and sell them pretty quick

    Need to crowdsource some opinions:

Moving to WA in 3 weeks, and won't have a spot to keep my bike at my new apartment; Trying to figure out options.

    1. A friend/coworker of mine here in UT with a huge shop out back has offered a corner and a power plug to store my bike for an indefinite amount of time. Would then need to ride it 850mi back to WA at some point.

    2. Potential family member storage within 45 mins of my new place, but likely shorter term. Would really only be good for daytrip rides at most, but would be secure.

    3. Storage unit in vicinity of new place? Downside being have to drive to it, and not having "more secure" parking for my truck while I'm out vs option 2. Also, I already have one indoor unit for home goods so I don't want to pay a second unit's rent.

    4. Spot sell bike to local triumph dealer where I bought it. Know I'm gonna get butchered on the sale/trade so not a huge fan but it would check the box the most immediate fashion. Would result in me cutting a check for the delta at a cashflow interesting time.

    5. Try to 3rd party sale my bike in like 2 weeks. Loathe the idea of having to meet with Craigslist people.

Personally, I'm thinking option 1, pay down the bike some more, and if I end up not having a place for the bike in a reasonable time, offload it via option 4/5.

I wouldn't sell it. If your buddy will hold it, and you trust they won't screw you, do that. You can always pick it up once you get stuff figured out in WA. Or, when you come to your senses and move out of that state, it'll be waiting for you.

Thats what I have seen in my reading up the final drive seems like its a damn easy to maintain long lasting setup. About the only thing is engine oil with good sheer strength due to the bevel rear output but thats easy n cheap as well.

Got the tenere with 22k miles on it. Went through the whole bike including pulling the rear swingarm, pumpkin etc. Everything looked immaculate drive train wise. Put some valvoline 75w90 full syn in and called it good.

    Thanks for re-assuring!

What area of Washington you heading to?

I'd vote option 1, fly and ride sounds fun, or option 2 where when you realize how great WA is in the summer and want to make it your daily it's right there nearby already.

Took a job back in Everett, the area that's my whole extended family's "home", spent a ton of time there as a kid. Have family in Lake Stevens which is likely where I'd store it in a garage, but IDK how long I could do that for. Being in an apartment again, I can't fit my bike and truck in my assigned slot.

Option 1 is going to be my default. He's trustworthy, and probably the best friend or maybe top 2 I have here in Utah so not worried about hijinx.

Downside is not being able to go ride it on ferries, etc during the admittedly quite nice summer season.
