    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Progress has been slow, but did manage to get a couple things done today.

Was about 1 million percent harder than I thought it would be. But the third member is finally fitted to the housing

Had to ream out the bolt holes in the third member to get it end up fitting in place, but now it's snug like it should be. About 20 test fits and stepping the holes up 1/32 at a time was a time consuming pain in the ass... and the difference between an 8 inch and 9.5 inch 3rd is HEAVY lol

Also, got the broken hub studs replaced. Test fit the drive flanges, everything rolls smoothly.

    20230423_220705.jpg

Then I found out a bought an entire box of lug studs that don't seem like they are going to work. Was looking to do longer studs, but these seem like they are too big at the knurl to work here. Somehow I'm not suprised.

Hmm yeah I mean I am not experiencing any signs of failure and based on the other threads maybe the bearing failed on your old one because you needed to be super tight to prevent the squeal? I am going to try the pulley first I think, cheap and easy.

Yeah I think that was such a fun and challenging trail. I really had fun running it with you guys! I need to come back and run Pritchett next, just to check it off my list. Won't be for a while though. :pout:

I just ordered this one based on those threads. The one @mechanicjon recommended is out of stick and this is spec'd the same. I always felt like mine wasn't perfectly straight TBH so this would explain a lot. I need to take a look at the belt and see if there is any fraying. Appreciate the feedback!

Oh and I took it for my son's first camping trip. He'll be 3 in August.

Though this isn't what I would normally call "camping" it was a good introduction and he had a blast. Can't wait to build up towards true remote camping and adventures like I am used to.

LOL... I never tightened it to get it to stop squealing. I just let it howl. Most of the time, if I just romped on the gas the squeal went away.

Well I :censored::censored::censored: flubbed... I went to take the test drive this morning and had no reverse to get out of the garage... only forward motion in any position... went back to review my pictures I took and seen/recalled that I forgot to position the shift linkage pin into the place. :jpow:

Dropped it all, was able to loosen the VB bolts all enough without taken them completely out and slid the pin into place like it should be... buttoned back up again now and waiting for FIPG to cure before refilling fluids again and seeing what the 2nds attempt has in store..

All fixed, she can go backwards again now! First impression of the Trans go kit are good, going to take some getting used to the shift behavior but all in all I like it! (Truck setting)

Also, can't trust anyone with maintenance apparently! Prior to this Trans Go install I had a Toyota dealership flush the transmission some ~30k ago maybe....(chasing what turned out to actually be a bad ignition coil that hadn't thrown a code yet) but now fast forward to that Trans go install...4 quarts were drained during this process (twice due to my boneheadness), but I have so far put 6 quarts back in and I am still roughly a quart+ low at running operating temp! So been running around 3-4 quarts low of a 12 quart system...:smack:

12 quarts? I think I put about 6 quarts in my tranny last and I read a little high on the dip stick when it’s hot

The system is actually somewhere between 12 and 13 quarts. But you really can't drain more than about 6.

There's really a lot of room for errors in the amount of fluid that can run in the system.

I've ran a couple quarts low, and a couple quarts high over the course of the 400,000 on the truck. I've put 150 or so K on this trans since it was installed with the 4wd swap with shift kit. It had around 150K on it before I got it.

I'vr replaced the radiator and forgotten to refill the trans (around a quart low). I've refilled it and misread the dipstick (ended up over a quart high).

I think the dipstick is more of a suggestion really lol.

haha for sure! It ended up only being about 2.5 total low after I went and picked up more ATF. I assume previously, I would have had issues arise if running that low was causing a problem but I constantly have an eye on Torque App and with my Trans cooler very rarely do I see temps above 180 unless I am loaded and pushing it hard. Hell, tonight just to get to operating temps I had to load it up while stomping on the brakes to get it above 158* and take measurements

Yes that's getting pretty hot. Do you have a trans cooler?

Yes. I have one of the largest coolers i could get and have it divorced from the radiator. Around town it doesn’t ever really go over 180. But going up some of the Sierra Nevada grades are much steeper than I think people realize.

Man mine barely gets over 130-140 just driving around. Mine isn't even they big. Mine attached to the radiator though still. And plumbed to flow up the cooler.

I did a front end refresh a couple weeks ago, Moog LCAs, swaybar endlinks and inner and outer TREs, OEM upper and lower ball joints, ES UCA bushings. Decided to stall Whiteline LCA bushings in he old LCAs and keep them on the shelf in case the Moogs prove to be crap. So Sunday I did the bottle jack/ratchet strap method to remove the old bushings. One of them popped out like it was fired from a gun and instead of sailing out the open garage door it glanced off the bench vise and center punched my passenger side door. I was physically ill when I saw this
