For sure I get that, I guess I just don't see the trade-off being worthwhile.

Are you Auto trans? I'm on 4.56s with 285s and it feels sluggish, the SC probably helps a ton to push the bigger tires around.

Yeah auto and the sc helps a bunch. 4.56 was nice on 285’s, and did fine with 35’s but needed more when i went to 37’s. When I blew the rear I jumped to 5.29 and it’s back to being pretty good. Just needs more brakes now

Beautiful work from @454Motorsports! If you end up damaging that, you'll need to replace more than just the LCA mounts.

There's a couple of different issues that need to be addressed when speaking about the factory LCA mounts. The cam tab gussets, such as the Total Chaos, only solve the issue of weak cam tabs that are prone to bending. They don't reinforce the LCA mounts at all. Moving on to other options such as the Marlin Crawler kit, you reinforce the LCA mounts themselves but the kit doesn't really reinforce the tabs. I personally weld the tabs to the kit to alleviate this concern. You won't bend them if installed properly but you retain your ability to align the truck as intended You may need alignments after a hard wheeling trip. What 454 has done for you is their own twist of the two, while eliminating the ability to adjust your alignment via the LCA. Will work great.

The JD kit solves all of the above issues by eliminating the factory LCA mounts completely and triangulating into the frame. You also gain the ability to adjust your CASTER*** from .75"-1.75ish" via the shims they provide. Lastly, you can drill & tap the alignment shim and essentially lock your alignment into place. Not to say there aren't other ways to achieve similar results, but saying "it doesn't look like it's that big of an upgrade" is a bit of a naïve statement.

I'm not looking for an argument. Simply conversing over the topic. What @454Motorsports has done will undoubtedly do as intended and I appreciate quality fab skills and creativity. Can't wait to see this project wrapped up an rippin around! :bikewhoops:

Yeah I totally understand! You’re right, i was naive and I’m not an engineer either. I saw a kit which looked like all it did was replace the mounts with slightly thicker material and didn’t think much of it. Didn’t see any of the other benefits which have now been explained so I can see the value in it like others have. Oh well. Lessons learned. I’m incredibly happy with how the truck is turning out and even more happy with the quality of work 454 is doing.

Absolutely! Nothing wrong with asking questions and learning. Everyone has to start somewhere. We constantly battle misinformation on the forums/social media, just clarifying some details for anyone else who may be in your position in the future. The work they've done to your truck is :101010:. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

After pre running the Koh desert lap with a stock front end (gusseted shit, trd pro coilovers) I decided to finally do a +2 kit.

Pretty happy with Allpros +2 kit so far. Been running it pretty hard the last month.

Kit cycles 12.1" mechanically, outer tie rod (both stock, and a 3/4" heim) being the limit on droop, and upper uniball on compression.

Got the kit new for $3600 with coilovers, picked up some Rcvs for cheap.

Did new Jd fab spindle gussets with some extra plating/internal gusseting.

Did Tgs hydro bumps as well, so far so good with those.

Was running a Tundra rack this last year, blew the seals out on the first beatdown with the Lt. Going to run stock racks for now until I do this double ended ram assist/steering box combo I've been wanting to do. Will probably do that this winter.

Also going to do Dirt Kings front frame plate, and engine crossbar sometime. Bumper will be tied to the crossbar so I can ram shit.

Now to do the rear, just going to 3 link it and do a 9" when that time comes

What’s your plan for steering if you don’t mind me asking for more details? I just ordered a cheap rack to “freshen” things up with the jd slide rack until I decide what to do for steering.

Looks like you have that kit finished up pretty nice! Seen a few people run that kit, only place I’ve seen it fail is the area on the LCA where it bumps out. But if it’s reinforced or if you’re just crawling you won’t have to worry about that.

Speaking of Allpro, saw on Instagram today, it looks like they reversed-engineered the RCLT kit from marlin. Don’t really care about the RCLT kit, @Tacoma1192 has a good write up on it. But if their offering beats the price of that kit, I’m all for it.

edit: had to tag the correct Kyle.

Full hydro ram as the steering rack, and then a steering box jammed in somewhere mechanically connected to the ram for peice of mind over just plain full hydro. The krackerfab guys did it on their Bronco.

Yeah I tried my best to line up the bump to one of the ribs on the Lca, missed by a cunt hair and starting to dent the top lca plate. Just need to weld a bump plate overlay sometime

Yep 8.75 rear, stock diff gears and dual cases. So far the only thing I have broken is the Tundra rack. Have put/dragged the truck through the hardest trails a full body/ifs tacoma can pretty much fit through without destroying the body (Coyote Canyon in Moab for example, lots more).
Other than the Tundra rack, I havent even bent a tie rod or broken a stock cv. Run rcvs now and will just carry a spare add tube from now on instead of a spare cv.

Pretty sure Marlin crawler and the Allpro dudes are pretty tight so it’s a weird dynamic on this kit for sure.

There was another company (alpha foxtrot or something like that) that made what looked like a one-of kit for a Instagram influencer. That company has since disappeared I guess.
